Dear Bishop DiMarzio:

I read your January 8, 2007 letter concerning your Church's treatment of Black and Hispanic Catholics and the new approach mandated for more effective methods to breathe more life into those communities.

This is certainly very commendable, especially in the face of the untreated racism/colorism people of color have to face on a daily basis.

I recall being very favorably impressed reading the "Bishops' Letter on Racism" some years ago. I am also impressed with your reference in your letter to "...a Church which recognizes their individual identity..." - because that is the pivotal basis for our Racism/Colorism Quotient Test Program - the approach to healing on the basis of the individual - how serendipitous this co-incidence is! (See, please, the enclosed article by our brilliant Attorney Alton H. Maddox, Jr.)

In our efforts to persuade the New York Police Department to adopt our Racism/Colorism Quotient Test Program with Follow Up Psychological or Psychiatric Counseling - we've come across a rather stunning situation; allegations've been made that most of the killings of Black males - mostly, have been done by white male Catholic cops. We are very interested in some sort of Research Study being undertaken to either prove or disprove these serious charges! it would seem to me that - since most of the killings have also been done in Brooklyn, tha t, with your religious influence, it would be to advantage for your Church to conduct that Study and publish the findings.

Sincerely,

Carol Taylor R.N.
