The Delusion of A 'Post-Racial' Anything
Every time I hear some brain-damaged apologist for the status quo utter the egregiously inaccurate phrase 'post-racial,' I wince, knowing that this societal excrescence usually comes from someone who is either non-Black or a servile self-hating wanna'-be. (God only knows who came up with this misleading illusion in the first damn place!)
Understanding the - perhaps - fervent wishes of some to reach a skin color nirvana where people deal with each other as do get-along siblings, nevertheless, as someone who daily deals, one way or another, with the untreated racism/colorism extant in this hostile-to-color country, I absolutely abhor the implied feelgood untenable attempts of eager-beaver liberals to 'suck it up' - 'just-sweep-it-under-the-carpet.' (And there are far too many in the white male-dominated media in this country echoing the hateful term 'post-racial)
As far as I am concerned, whites have absolutely no right to dictate to non-whites what is 'post-racial' (whatever that means) especially while using a euphemism such as 'racial.' Those misusers should be taught/reminded that since there is actually only one hueman 'race,' - many colors - one race - the use of words, applied to hueman beings, stemming from 'race' are not correct - words such as the irritating, baldly wrong, perpetuating-of-colorism: 'bi-trans-multi-racial,' and/or 'racial groups-targeting-animosity' - anything so.
Consequently, the critical answer to the $64,000 question "Are we There Yet?" is an emphatic HELL NO! as long as:
• the unemployment rate for Black males in New York City is over 50%;
• Black police in some cities in the South can't arrest whites;
• there are counterproductive color-biased events like Arizona's Senate Bill 1070 and that state's colorist banning of "Ethnic Studies;"
• cops nationwide continue slaughtering Black male sons with impunity; (cops of any color don't shoot white males in the back!)
• Black children prefer white dolls to Black ones;
• idiots speak of 'reverse racism;' (Racism is racism - but we at the Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, Inc. prefer the accurate word 'colorism')
• prom-time in many states is divided into Black and white proms; (What happens with the Red, Yellow, Tan, Olive and Brown children?)
• misguided folk wish for a 'colorblind' society; (don't try to obliterate my beautiful color!)
• the NYC Fire Department firefighters are disproportionately white and male;
• cops nationwide think it's OK to handcuff young Black children;
• predatory media outlets - exist misguidedly engaging in - like CNN recently - 'skimming-for-ratings,' in simplistic and inaccurately-worded 'studies' of color-foibles in society; ("What are you teaching your kids about race?") YUCK!
• miseducated-in-America masses continue to put an 's' on the word 'race' as it applies to the one-race huemanity; (I spell this word with an 'e' because, whether it shows or not, most huemans have melanin in their makeup since they all have descended from the originating Black Africans)
• the naieve think that just because individual Black (and other people of color) attain various positions in society (like U.S.A. President Barack) problems/inequities based on people's skin color are automatically erased;
• seven year old Ayana Jones - a Black child - is shot to death by marauding cops in Detroit; (when last did cops kill a 7 year old white child in a so-called raid?
Oh, I could go on and on listing the color-based inequities but suggesting a potential solution is much more productive:
Test every decision-maker who has to render decisions about others with the *www.racismtest.org and where dysfunctional responses to differences in color and culture are revealed - don't fire 'em - mandate that they be Ethnotherapeutically counselled until they can THINK STRAIGHT about color and culture.
That this remedy/healing is urgently-required worldwide, because of pandemic untreated racism/colorism, cannot be credibly-denied by honest people.
The sooner this important tool for fomenting dialogue about colorism in a non-threatening arena is adolpted by Heads of State - healthier societies can be achieved and at least three-quarters of the world's majority (people of color) can receive a welcome "OH YES!" answer to the thorny question: "Are we there yet?"

The United States of America cannot stand in front of the world - three-quarters population people of color - with any credibility as a moral nation until it repays its long-overdue debt to the descendants of enslaved BlackFolk.

There is ample precedence to support claims of financial remuneration to Black individuals whose enslaved ancestors built this country and who themselves daily undergo Post Slavery Stress Syndrome from the inherited untreated racism/colorism of that colorist inhuemanity.

If the U.S.A. could pay Reparations to the Japanese poeple it interned in a depraved display of colorist ethnic targeting - and it did - why isn't it an equally-compelling moral responsibility for it to pay Reparations to Black hueman beings who, even today, still suffer from inherited continuous slings and arrows of untreated racist/colorist U.S.A. kidnapping/ internment?

Moreover, an integral part of financial reparation due the heirs of enslaved Black Africans is for this country to overhaul, revise and repair its eurocentric colorist education system, which has obdurately refused to this very day to teach its hapless students (of all colors) who their most distant ancestors/relatives were: Black Africans in Black Africa. Instead of teaching that truth, alas, the overweening incorrect thrust of U.S.A. academe remains white and European. (Refer to the recent counterproductive, colorist banning of Ethnic Studies by miseducated Arizonians and the prejudicial Arizona SB1070 bill supported by the equally-miseducated Governor!)

This hostile-to-color country urgently needs to stop thus manufacturing colorist miseducated graduates who will take their miseducation out on the world's people of color in too many ways to herein list.

Indeed, how, with any sense of credibility, can this country continue to send out into the world its ambassadors who've been so egregiously miseducated as to who they themselves really are and from whom they've descended? Adequately-educated other-country diplomats can only be snidely laughing behind their obligatory masks of politesse. How utterly embarrassing this should be to anyone who doesn't have a colorist thick skin!

The U.S.A., to ever gain its moral standing with the rest of the majority-of-color world, must 1. stop with its bigstick warring 'do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do' external posturing;
2. internally repair its colorist education sysdum and
3. pay up on its immorally-long-overdue debt to that portion of its own society which is Black and descendant from those kidnapped/interned Black Africans.

I maintain that until this Reparations Moral Imperative is undertaken, to speak of 'democracy' or indeed, of national 'security' is tatamount to merely wallowing in cognitive dissonance.

Gaining, Regaining and Maintaining Female Self-Esteem

To be female is a wondrous thing. In fact, whenever I want to upset a misogynist (male or female) who delights in engaging in an inerited 'put down' of women, I inform the sicko that science has proved that, at conception before gender specialization, all huemans are female!

I have, at successive levels of psychological growth in my peripatetic life, gradually become only too aware of the enormous, unfair burden most societies continuously bestow on the backs of individuals born with more estrogen than testosterone.

This 'Adam vs Eve' burden is maintained throughout the lives of females and in the - unlikely - event that one who is female recognizes the full import of the inherited gender discrimination (which outrageously has her earning the automatic 'less than he' salary) hamstringing frustration at the widespread hormonal inequity can cause her not only to think submissively but to act submissively her whole life merely on the basis of being born on the distaff side of her family!

There is a remedy for this pandemic iniquitous, counterproductive societal marginalization: from birth teach your daughter that she is special; show her that she controls her own thought processes; instill in her from early on that she is part of the majority population in this male-dominated world and that the domination springs from a serious maleducation of the masses and doesn't necessarily have to last forever. Ready For The Revolution?

Teach her asap that backward-ass habits can be changed and just because 'it's traditional,' doesn't mean tradition can't be reversed and lame excuses for it can't be refuted.

Demonstrate to her that such change must be undertaken to "subvert the dominant paradigm" which - among other injustices - even has most media photographs of married couples (men and women) giving his name but describing her as "his wife" - without according her a name of her own - "Mrs. John Doe," as though she's merely an appendage undeserving of individual recognition/ acknowledgement.

In fact, as I in late life came to an understanding of the complete and continuing subjugation of girls/women, I realized that I had swallowed wholesale the - questionable - desireability of giving up my own birth name and taken on the name of my husband. As I've struggled to shake off society's negative and misogynist condtioning I've realized how complex a matter it is to 'take back' my 'maiden' name and shuck my married one! Major battle.

So teach your daughter that not only is she 'as good' as any other hueman, but she has every inherent right to call herself-and be called by- her at-birth name; she also has the right to choose any name she prefers!

All females should be taught that they weren't brought into this world for anyone to damage their skin, beat them or sexually or psychologically abuse them. Each should be taught martial arts to protect themselves; they - and no one else - are responsible for their own eggs; that they would not bleed every month if they went onto raw foods (menstruation is NOT 'a natural state' for females!) and that if they love themselves, they'll be lovable, attractive and won't become prey for some goodlooking predator. They should learn the song which says "You don't own me!"

Before anyone calls me a 'bra-burning, strident, women's-libber,' let me state unequivocally that I am not a 'feminist,' I am a 'peopleist' - I truly believe, irrespective of what one's major hormonal make-up is, that we all should be treated by the content of our character and not by the happenstance of our gender. I believe in the equality of huemans and so strongly abjure the status quo of society's knee-jerk deference to testicular dominance.

And nothing is more illustrative of that arrogant male dominance than the spectre of a mostly all-(male)white U.S.A. Congress attempting to dictate to females what we should do with our bodies. Even discussing abortion is patently a big fat red herring; they would never ever even discuss legislation forbidding males to have vasectomies or force them to have children they didn't want!

In that vein, teach your daughter to support a revolutionary revision of the world's education systems - once and for all purging them of their preferential 'for-the-masculine' presentations of history and of current events. In fact, teach her that such a revision is necessary to accord equity for females in every arena of people activity: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, religion, politics, sex and war.

For this to happen, of course, means that every female will have to be formally taught that the development of a healthy self-esteem as a female on this male-dominant planet is crucial to her well-being and to that of society in general. ROCK-(ETTE)ON!

My philosophy is wherever you're residing - commit to community 'uplifment!'

So, when I was living in Barbados, West Indies, registered as a citizen on the basis of being married to a Bajan (turned out to be a fourteen year blast); bore a lil' Bajan baby boy in Queen Elizabeth Hospital delivered by the son of the former Premier; was Secretary to Lord Beaverbrook's grandson - among other interesting experiences, lemme list just some of my civic donations for those who are unaware of 'em:

* planned and implemented the island's first Women's Political Caucus;

* named and helped Maude Wilkins start the island's first consumer organization - The Bajan Consumer League;

* provided office space and organizational assistance to the island's first Barbados Building Society;

* Set up and ran the island's first Babysitting business with trained-in-First-Aid sitters;

* helped teacher John Cumberbatch and others bring the Derek Walcott Trinidad/Tobago actors to Barbados (their first overseas 'gig');

* helped organize Jeannette Layne Clarke's Working Organization for Women;

* rescued a young female Canadian tourist from the clutches of the Coleridge Street Police Headquarters police (she'd called me hysterically from there asking for my help) - they'd grabbed her at six am one scary morning saying she was 'illegal;'

* was instrumental in starting- and became Advertising Manager for- the island's first women's magazine - "HERS;"

* helped form the Ursuline Convent School's first Parent/Teacher's Association (Dr. Kerr became its President);

* sat on The Commission To Liberalize The Abortion Legislation of Barbados with Dr. Hoyos;

* was responsible for Barrbados bringing Canadian Women's Activist Florence Byrd to advise the setting up of The Barbados National Enquiry Into The Status of Women - when I heard that she was vacationaing in St. James, I drove down to have a three hour conference with her. She said, "Carol, get your women's organization, WOW, to ask the Barbados Government - Errol Barow was Prime Minister - to ask the Canadian Government - Pierre Trudeau was Prime Minister - to send me down here to advise, as I did for Canada, how to set up a National Enquiry Into the Status of Women and I'll gladly come!" So said: so done. However, even though it was I who initiated the entire series of events, appreciated Dr. 'Sleepy' Smith's fine support, I was never invited to sit on the commission which held the island-wide Hearings spreading the word/necessity for the upcoming Enquiry!

* planned and implemented the first Candlelight Demonstration at the newly-built National Stadium for the Bajan Consumer League Membership Drive (candles & matches donated by the Industrial Park merchants) - where, for the first time, the historically warring political party Representatives - DLP AND BLP - appeared together on the same platform;

* planned and gave the island's first-time-there wildly-sussessful Art Exhibit at the Coleridge Street Police Headquarters (for the Trinidad/Tobago artist Bosco Holder);

* was the only person who visited the Jamaican Journalist Carmen Baily in the murky, musty, moldy, smelly 'Remand' cell behind the Coleridge Street Police Headquarters (not even her Attorney Tom Adams, the Jamaican High Commission staff, The Jamaican Women's organization, the Queen Elizabeth Blood Bank staff (where Carmen had taken an entire soccer team to donate blood) or the Editors of the local papers she'd been writing for visited her)!

* wrote well-received articles for "The Daily News," The Advocate," "The Nation," "The Beacon," newspapers and for "The Bajan" magazine;

* started and edited "The Barbados Nursing Journal" - 'nursing' not 'nurse's' so that all of the medical and ancillary workers would feel free to contribute their writings;

* personally raised $6,500 in donations in one week for the first Barbados-Hosted Caribbean Boy Scout Jamboree (Directed by Colonel Laurence Gordon Quintyne MBE);

* years before the building of Sherbourne Convention Centre, wrote a newspaper column calling for a National Convention centre (not that any credit for such an innovative column would ever be publicly acknowledged!)

* orchestrated the donations of 1. A Printing Press and 2. a full set of Collier's Encyclopedia to the Barbados Boy Scouts Association;

* helped to revolutionize the island's previously all-white male-dominated advertising industry by publicizing the fact that it is the island's women who make the majority of consumer brand purchase decisions, who spend the money on consumer goods and are the dominant numbers of registered voters (in my 'information box' for 'HERS' magazine)- thereafter, the island's newspapers for the first time, began publishing a weekly 'Women's Section' and the political parties established 'Women's planks in their platforms - especially after I personally planted a notice that the women of Barbados were considering starting a Women's Political Party!';

* after personal research into what plans - as late as December 1974 - the month before the 1975 International Women's Year worldwide celebrations - that anyone had made for observing that important event - (no one had) - planned, named and implemented the Inernational Women's Year Steering Committee with the able support of and donation of the Black Rock Cultural Center's Catholic Church Father Malachy Clune; this was the first function of the newly-built centre;

* suggested the Barbadian Woman of the Year IWY competition (Mignon Greenidge won);

* got the renowned Barbadian artist Omowale to design the turtleshell IWY Pin (he did it for free!);

* refused an invitation by Cuba's Fidel Castro to represent Barbadian womanhood in Cuba for IWY - (I said I was not 'representative' of the island's majority females - so Billie Miller became the representative, and found herself surprisingly-spirited all the way to Moscow, Russia before being delivered to Cuba for the ceremonies;

* convinced eleven Barbadian families to purchase Colliers Encyclopedias in one week, beating all of the other salespersons in the Caribbean - thereby putting Barbados on the world map in encyclopedia sales;

* went with a mother (working at the local main TV corporation) who'd bought a pair of shoes for her schoolchild which had 'burst out' the first week - when the Broad Street shop owner'd refused to replace the shoes or refund her money she called me. I went, as a Bajan Consumer League representative, and convinced the shop owner to stop trying to send the distraught mother to the shoe manufacturer but instead to do the right thing and refund her hard-earned money to her).

Have I committed - or what!

Huemans who have the same Mother are siblings.

You and I, gentle Reader, are sister and brother siblings because we have one ancestral Mother whose name was "Lucy," the Mother - anthropologically speaking - of all huemanity. So, as the Dakota, Lakota, Nakota Native American Indigenous 'Indians' say, "Mitakuye Oyasin" - 'We are all related!'

DNA research supports all of this scientifically (Ref. to SLC24A5 - the 'one race gene') without credible challenge, so why are so many hueman beings engaged in suppressing/oppressing/repressing other hueman beings who are only superficially different from them in color and perhaps culture? (We all bleed red) ANSWER: gross, on-purpose-miseducation-by-omission!

In other words, is it safe to say that because individuals weren't taught - at any level - about their own true identity/ancestry/descent, they are doomed to live out their lives maltreating people who are physically related to them but raised and conditioned by different cultures and who might wear skins of observable melanin?

What is the definition of insanity? It's the inability or unwillingness to recognize or acknowledge reality. (Also known as 'cognitive dissonance') Insanity reigns! Thus it should be a serious concern about all those folk - worldwide - who can't handle the truth - whatever color they may be.

A symptom of that insanity - the stubborn refusal of countries' 'education' systems to teach the truth about the Black African heritage/ancestry/descent of all huemans and the deleterious effects of that studied, powerful, purposeful omission - has compelled me to take up 'verbal arms' to ensure that my siblings are continuously informed about and warned of the damaging-to-individuals theft of the knowledge of huemans beings' identity.

How cruel is it to continue to allow such heinous lying-by-omission to warp the thinking of millions of multi-hued students causing such dysfuntional 'achilles-heel' thinking and behavior in so many huemans when it comes to their interaction with others who are different from them in culture and color.

How utterly hypocritical, disingenuous and counterproductive is it for the political, religious, educational and corporate institutional 'movers and shakers' to continue to ignore, suppress or avoid the reality of such an egregiously-grave theft as they prate about 'building a progressive society,' acting as though it's 'business as usual - it's not so important - hardly deserves mentioning at every opportunity. It'll eventually go away without the direct involvement of every single individual in every society.'

How indescribably ludicrous are those 'liberal' pretenders to speak of 'including' their versions of 'Black' history in their 'white-western-oriented' history, especially during that gratuitously-conferred 'Black' History Month! That's so like having a child tell its parents, "I'm gonna' include you!"

As with any aberrational thinking, such institutional, pandemic racism/colorism urgently requires detection and intervention: one can't change such ill health without first determining the levels of the infection within the individual and this can't be done by merely passing legislation against colorist behavior and then just sitting back and wishing the problem away.

One of the tools, necessary for involving individuals who - would like to and - deserve knowing how damaged they've been by being - unknown to themselves - maleducated about their own ancestry/descent/identity - is the Racism/Colorism Quotient Test Program, of The Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, Inc, - Motto: Prejudice Is Learned - It Can Be Unlearned: Many Colors - One Race," which includes the www.racismtest.org used along with Ethnotherapy, for dysfunctional response to differences in color and culture (until the respondents can THINK STRAIGHT), and as the first step in raising the consciousness of the individual, in a non-threatening arena.

My sisters and brothers, it is way past time to purposefully end the 'Family Dysfunction' in this racist/colorist world. We must determinedly put an end to allowing greedy racist/colorist war dawgs to miseducate our progeny to make it easier to send them off to wars and invasions against their very own siblings!

Attention: Robert M. Groves, Director 'U.S.' Census Bureau

Isn't there something in the U.S.A. Constitution or laws which prevents government officials from hornswoggling the public in America? (HELP - American Civil Liberties Union!)

I've just received the incorrectly-titled 'United States' Census 2010 (incorrect because it should've read 'U.S.A.') - with its "race this and race that!" (and how many people don't know that your appellation "Negro" is pejorative and highly offensive?)

Moreover, 'race' is an utterly incorrect, racist/colorist social construct and has absolutely no place in government parlance. Such use of the incorrect term 'race' perpetuates injurious color discrimination, aside from counterproductively causing false results which - OH MY! - lead to the egregiously disproportionate siphoning of the people's tax monies into mainly-white enclaves! (We're sure y'all didn't mean to do that!)

Tell us, what's the name of the law which forces people in the U.S.A. to be counted?

Furthermore, there is only ONE hueman 'race' - but because the U.S.A. 'education' system still teaches almost exclusively about eurocentric (read 'white') history and values, the awesome ignorant results include, unfortunately, the perpetuation of the negative stereotypes raging throughout your 2010 Census form: this modern-day Tower of Babel geared to preserving white male domination!

As a Black African, white (English, Irish), Cherokee, elder female, Boston Massachussetts-born hueman being, I hereby register my utter opprobrium and embarassment at the blatant, arrogant, untenable and rank racism/colorism displayed for all to witness in your official "United States Census 2010" form. Don't hold your breath waiting for mine.

Democratic Solution: Undertake the responsibility your Department was mandated: tally this multi-colored U.S.A. population on the basis of it being hueman instead of attempting a futile and time wasting colorist, specious division of the ONE hueman race!

Tell me something: if, as is often said, "The truth will out," and "The truth will set you free," why is it that the U.S.A. continues to perpetuate The Big White Lie that February - the shortest month of the year - represents some sort of separate "history" and that "Black" history deserves only a grudgingly gratuitous - albeit not very important - part of national attention?

Why are "World" history and "American" history taught as though they are separate entities in and of themselves when the truth is that they are part of "Black" history and not - as implied by the expression "Black History Month," the other way around.

"American" history and "World" history are "Black" history and it is long past time for this particular and vital truth to be told and told and taught!

Not a moment longer should the white supremacist, hegemonic, lying european colonialist system of continuously miseducating unsuspecting hueman beings be allowed to formally perpetuate The Big White Lie: the myth of superiority of white skin and the myth of inferiority of observable skin melanin. No more "Black stay back!"

If indeed "The truth will out" - let it be right now: if "The truth will set you free" - then let the people be set free once and for all by the public - continuing - acknowledgement (maybe a decree by that mostly all-white Congress of the United States of America) that not only are all huemans 'of Black African ancestry,' but that "World" and "American" history are 'Black' history and that it is no longer necessary to counterproductively and coloristically divide history into 'Yellow,' 'Brown,' 'Tan,' 'Olive,' 'white,' or 'Black' history!

I can hear the screeching now from the miseducated masses - (irrespective of what color they may be) - "Oh no! We've fought so hard for recognition as hueman beings and to have 'our own' existence acknowleged! Don't do away with Black Hisory Month - we need it!"

No we don't. And we don't need Black history to be incorporated into other-color histories: actually, "World" and "American" history should be incorporated into their parent, originating history - Black that is!

However, the obvious question from those who've somehow escaped from their U.S.A. miseducational, racist/colorist conditioning is: "Exactly what is meant by 'we' nd 'our own?' If, as has been scientifically-proven, all huemans are part of the Black African diaspora - all African - then doesn't it stand to reason tht 'we' and 'our' is 'us?'

Alla' we is ONE! 'We' have but ONE history and 'our' most distant ancestors were Black.

Isn't it time to tell all the children the truth? 'Come together - right now'... nd be free!'

Anti-Racism/Colorism Self-Starter Program

First of all, any hueman (my spelling) who has gone through or is going through a U.S.A. education system (with its eurocentric overview - 'uber alles') must be persuaded to understand: who they are, who were their most distant ancestors (as scientifially-proven by sound scientific revelations)*, and that their colorism-conditoned thinking is not their fault (nor should they be blamed for it) but is a counterproductive inheritance which must be abandoned.
Then, it is absolutely necessary for them to understand the history of the world - not just of Europe.
Following that should be a mandatory study of the effects of whiteEuropean colonization of countries of color and the reasons for the exploitation of their people, land and natural resources.
At an early stage of this de-conditioning participants should take the www.racismtest.org [posted on www.discussrace.com] and where responses are dysfunctional as to perceived differences in color and culture, Ethnotherapeutic Counseling should be undergone until the subjects can THINK STRAIGHT about color and culture.
It should be acknowledged that racist/colorist thinking and acting out, scapegoating others because of the color of their skins is, pure and not so simple a mental disorder(inherited) because it engages in non-reality - believing in stereotypes. In the corporate arena, because the disorder/infection is so very widespread, racism/colorism should be treated like any other addiction (like alcoholism, where it's illegal to fire the addict unless she or he refuses to undergo treatment - including Counseling). Moreover, those exhibiting racist/colorist behavior on the job should not be fired: adequate treatment should be made available - thereby promoting public health and saving companies millions of dollars in potential non-compliance government suits against them.
The main problem with most 'sensitivity,' 'anti-racism,' 'diversity' programs is that they mistakenly-focus on the victims of colorism rather than realistically focusing on healing the victimizers. Changes in the victims' behavior shouldn't be the goal, the goal should be on showing the victimizers how self-hamstringing their veiws and behaviors are (this 'faulty focus' is especially grievous as it applies to the Black-male-killings of police departments all over this hostile-to-color country. Police of any color don't shoot white males in the back!)

Finally, if the protracted fight against untreated racism/colorism is to yield even a modicum of success, the language folk unfortunately utilize these days must be changed, brought into line with reality: meaningless overused phrases and words such as, "raceS," "race-mixing," "out of his/her race," "inter-intra-bi-multi-racial," "racial"ANYthing: "post, groups, animosity, unity, attitudes, equity" **(or any OTHER noun - because, there is actually, Virginia, only ONE hueman 'race' which descended from the originating Black Africans* and it's way past time for progressive educators to acknowledge and teach this oh-so-basic truth - worldwide!

Let the healing continue! Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. did say that huemans should be treated, not by the color of their skin but, by the content of their character. This has relevance for the untreated color bigotry which pervades every arena of people activity all over the world: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war (in case of disingenuous claims that certain countries "don't have a color problem").

As I review my own chaotic life, I'm forced to let loose a huge guffaw realizing that, viewed all together, my activities form a unique pannoply resembling the life of a Black 'Perils of Pauline!'

been kicked in the chest by the back legs of a friskly horse which'd just had water right after eating oats? (Lucky for me the kick merely lifted me off the ground: it's a farm 'no-no' to give water to a horse right after feeding it oats!)

harvested black walnuts, spread 'em out to dry for later use in deelishious dark chocolate fudge your Mother made?

As the 'experts' endlessly prate about who made what mistakes in determining the cause of the latest terrifying attempt of international immolation (Detroit Northwest Flight #235'- Abdulmutallah's underwear-bomb), recollections of the accuracy of Malcom X's predictions about the United States of America ricochet through my mind.

Similarly, echoes, of the adage "What goes around - comes around" also flicker through my consciousness and when I look at the images of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallah (who looks like a startled nine year old - a deer caught in the headlights of a speeding automobile) I'm nearly overcome by a sense of ineffable tristesse at the pitiful stage of our world's counterproductive development of 'victims victimizing victims.'

Indeed, the more (white male-dominated) media in the U.S.A. try to present Abdulmutallah as a raging terrorist, the more he comes across as a hapless victim of monstrous manipulation.

But these efforts, along with other attempts at displacing responsibility for the adversarial nature of the world's 'military ping-pong' affairs will ultimately fail. I'm reminded of the prophetic phrase, "...the worm turns..." and all the endless doublespeak, by hypocrites who know better, about "intelligence failures," "secure areas," "let him through," "war on terrorism," "holding them responsible," "retaliation" and the ultimate vacuous 'wool-puller,' "national security," - which catch-all phrase is used by war dawgs who want to continue to scare the bejeezus out of a gullible public.

It's at once amazing and morally repugnant to me that I've not heard one single commentator, prognosticator, analyst, academician or Heaven forfend, politician - be honest enough to admit publicly that there's no such thing as "national security!" Please! If one continually dumps excrement in what they're fond of calling their 'backyards,' there will one day emerge an untenable stench! This hegemonic behavior of the U.S.A. on the world stage (invading over two hundred countries - mostly of color, like Grenada, Iraq and the Philippines in the past howmany decades) has evolved into escalating instances of what is hypocritically described as "terrorism" (the pot calling the kettle Black) but in reality is understandably-antisocial "payback" for perceived and actual injury.

The more the West (including Israel, Europe) continues to treat countries of color as their fecal 'backyards,' all the while waging inernecine military raids for resources/raw materials like oil, the more horribly-desperate huemans will be persuaded that 'going out in a blaze of gory' (pardon) and taking Western perpetrators with 'em, is better than living a hopeless life.

Question: Is there a subliminal 'fear-of-Blackness' connection between the U.S.A. war dawg military occupation of countries of color and white males' refusal to end the Death Penalty in the U.S.A.?

My, my, my. According to the New York times, Jan. 4, 2010 article by Adam Litpak, the American Law Institute has decided to end its '...intellectually respected support for the Death Penalty system in the United States of America,' and just 'walk away' from the issue.
Well scratch my heinous!

The unmitigated gall of those 4000 judges, lawyers, law professors, (I'll bet mostly white males) 'we-say-we're-for-justice' foot-draggers has to be seen to be believed. They posture in the unearned privilege of their white skin color, pretending to the public that their 'justice system' has been operating as a level playing field, despite the rampant racism/colorism. It's nauseating.

Euphemisms abound, as they use expiatory terms about 'efficacy,' 'deterrence,' 'fairness,' 'equity' and 'justice' - to avoid accountability for supporting an untenable Death Penalty system (which DNA tests have proven has killed many innocent people of color in this hostile-to-color country).

Against this murky background, such terms make a mockery of any notion of democracy - (it is really "dey-mock-us-you-see," said a young Rastafarian man to me some time ago).

Contrary to the American Law Institute's fanciful ideation about 'justice for all,' ("all who?) it is impossible 'to make the Death Penalty "less arbitrary" without first dealing a death blow to the pandemic color discrimination infesting the criminal justice system. Get real!

You'll forgive me - a Black person who's been on the ugly butt-end of untreated racism/colorism all my waking life, if I'm less than sanguine about the credibility of a bunch of white-skin-privileged males' pronouncements of good intentions just because they've 'better-late-than-never' ended their unconscionable 'respected support' for the Death Penalty System (Litvak's article does say 'System' - doesn't it?).

Justice Antonin Scalia et al.s' prating about the Death Penalty equals empty words, words, words - 'whistling Dixie' in the face of the enormous inhuemanity to a multi-colored population. This is tantamount to the irrationality reflected in the mainstream media when they cover issues and pointedly ignore the ever-present effects of untreated racism/colorism in every arena of people activity.

The U.S.A.'s criminal justice system is broken - precisely because of its inherited untreated racism/colorism - denied too often - which urgently requires extirpation, by the continuous administration - of the www.racismtest.org [posted on www.Discussrace.com] - with Follow-up Ethnotherapeutic Counseling to counteract the massive colorist conditioning by our education systems, which fail miserably to teach their students who their most distant ancestors are: the Black African originators of huemanity!

What - a literary snob? Honestly, I can be as compassionate as the next person, but something wrenches my gut when I'm watching some otherwise credible person speaking earnestly on TV and suddenly out of her/his mouth pops what I call a slimy 'word gripe!'

The latest one - on the show "The Doctors," she's explaining how one relaxes: "...so you just lay down..." AWK! - as soon as she uttered that 'lay-lie' twistup I felt my stomach lurch - I kid you not! Then, in a rare moment of self-analysis, I pondered over why such a mistake would elicit such a response - but it does.

I actually groan aloud when they yelled "CONGRADULATIONS!" - there's no 'd' in 'Congratulations!' (But even Obama with all of his couth and charisma and education, unfortunately, puts a 'd' in that word!) AWK! and don't forget TV's GawkShow Hosts Jerry Springer and Maury Povich with their "Congradulations." DOUBLE AWK

Then, the pseudo-fastidious primly prate - "...the book's entitled ...anthropomorphically granting the inanimate pages some weird level of huemanity - like it's owed something! No, Fool, the book is titled."

And when some primetime prig comes out with "...they left my wife and I..." NO! They left "...my wife and me...!"

I'm in a good mood, so I'll forgive WBAI's Hugh Hamilton, who usually speaks pristine English, his "dezisions" for now.

But what about those sappy faces blithely spouting off about "this documenary?" - totally obliterating the 't!' I can't stand it! Then, a few days ago some popsie blathered on with "...definilly..."! I do believe she meant
"definitely." What the deuce are they teaching in those schools?

Well, if I hear one more person talking about a famous individual as 'a renown' person, I will hit somebody until they learn the correct "renowned!"

What about those TV ads using "less" instead of 'fewer?' "Less commercials, less dollars!" OWITCH! And one which actually gives me a fierce headache - "a free gift!" PLEASE!

Some of the most unfavorites! - TV's Marvel Scott's "A sad tragedy;" No bumble, not both - a tragedy is sad! - those verbose politicians; "...well, I will, in the future...I have, in the past...I am, currently" What's wrong with the past/future/present tenses? - or will relying on accuracy force them to keep their patter down?!!!

And how does this one grab you - "...a man was fatally killed..." eh? Perhaps after he was "verbally speaking"... or "seeing visually...?" This insanity is truly escalating though ( not "excalating!") -
escapades" - NOT "excapades" and February's coming up - (NOT "Febuary" thank you) and please, it's 'library,' NOT "liberry!"

And WBAI Radio, Ayo Harrington, it's not "documenary," it's 'documentary!' (I should think that's 'elementary,' not "elemenary")

It's not "chu" it's 'you,' - not "govenor" but 'governor' not "electorial" or "mayorial" but 'electoral' and 'mayoral!' It's not "hopefully" it's 'I hope!'

Finally (but, believe it - the list goes on) we'll end with one of the most offensive-'cause-it's-so-wrong - "irregardless" instead of 'regardless!'

Oh, and one apparently not wrong but too long, unnecessary and pretentious: "disenfranchisement" instead of 'disfranchisement!'

Now let me go work off the irritation I've dredged up listing so many of my 'word gripes!' More later - and there are more!

AFFIRMING THY BLACK AFRICAN ANCESTORS
"Teach The Youth The Truth"

Far be it from me to say, "You really missed it!" - but if you and your family weren't basking in the vivid ancestral atmosphere at the Brownsville Heritage House recently at the Warrioress Jean Wilkins Dember MHS 19th Annual "AFRICANS UNITED FOR SANITY NOW!" Commemoration ceremony - you really did miss it!

One walks in to the Brownsville Heritage House, is cordially and with true African hospitality and warmth, greeted by Sister Queen Patricia Deans, Director/Curator, and is immediately positively overwhelmed by the sheer number of variegated displays, paintings, photographs, crests, drawings and artifacts reflecting the glorious activists, notaries, martyrs, diplomats, politicians, writers, historians, philosophers, warriors and Black African ancestors, among too many others to herein awesomely describe.

As we sat, almost stupefied amidst such ancestral splendor, listening to Sister Jean Dember's soul-stirring presentation on Black Panthers activism, it was as if someone had opened up the tops of our heads as the atmosphere and information about our Black African selves flooded in - creating new synapses in our Blackness-starved brains. I was fervently grateful that my own son (and accompanying invited-by-me guests) was aslo breathing in the soul/psyche-enriching experience: you can't buy such vital encounters!

And, as if being flooded with the thought-provoking regalia of the museum and the enriching information by Mrs. Dember were not stimulating enough, when she presented and described the incredibly delicious completely vegetarian delicacies for us (to first taste and ) then to devour, we could hardly express our delight and gratitude for her obvious care and preparation (she and her supportive husband Clarence had driven in to Brooklyn's Mother Gaston Boulevard all the way from West Babylon, Long Island!) for this project.

One is struck not only by the number of interesting artifacts but also by the prose describing them and especially the evocative messages emitted by various 'Oh-so-conscious' artists: for instance, the stark hand-drawing of an obviously-anguished Black man's muscled back, with a loaded slave ship as his spine! (My entire psyche shuddered in the shock of sudden recognition as I saw it!) (Talk about on-the-spot much-needed psychological/psychiatric counseling for us Blackfolk!) Dr. Joy deGruy's description of Post Slavery Traumatic Disorder immediately was called to mind - along with the admonitions of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing about Black male jeopardy in this hostile-to-color country.

Can I also share with you the consciousness-smacking start I got when I beheld the Michael Jackson "Afro-ed Michael" montage of multi-photo-ed headshots of him before he straightened his hair? (What creative-thinking brain could dream up something like that?)

Another amazing display of Black African creativity was the painstakingly-laid out church scene where the artist used specially-treated ordinary brown cardboard material (which most people discard) to fashion singers, spires, seats and statuary, all somehow commanding onlookers to stare continuously wondering how he did it. I found myself returning and returning to 'see what I hadn't seen before' - not wanting to miss any part of it.

So, if you've ever longed for the opportunity to invest in providing your children/family/relatives/loved ones the experience of 'a quintessential showering in a Black African milieu,' - a kind of healing 'steeping in BlackAfricanness' - do not hesitate to take them to the Brownsville Heritage House (even though you did miss the AFRICANS UNITED FOR SANITY NOW! unique event, you can still enjoy memorable times at the Brownsville museum - well-named "Heritage" House!) Just How Hurtful Is This 'Color' Thing?

Well, guest testimony on the recent "Tyra Show" revealed that people in Chatanooga, Tennessee tried to run down two young Black girls "...because of their color..." Another guest, saying he was 'Black and Mexican' (illustrating the colorism involved in calling some folk by national origin but calling people of color - a color) and that he doesn't like Mexicans (himself). How truly hurtful are both incidents!

Further injury, of course, is Tyra's use of glaringly counterproductive rhetoric (probably stemming from her middle-white-American producers' usage): non-meaning phrases like "bi-racial," "interracial," "race," "raceS,"** "mixed-multi-racial," - all muddying an otherwise educative program on color - not 'race' Tyra! (**There is only one hueman race)

It's obviously way past time for a national debate on racist/colorist language usage; the sooner the better, so that influential folk like Tyra and others don't continue to perpetuate the untreated racism/colorism which so pitifully still rends the fabric of our society.

It is obvious also, despite admitted progress in some areas, that this country remains a 'hostile-to-color' place; examples of this abound and no more illustrative of this ignorance were the statements of many of Tyra's studio guests - like the white mother of two brown children who said, incredibly, that "I don't see color" - and I'm sure she had not a clue that she was therein denying the hueman worth of her own offspring!

Again, like the white mother of a dear friend of mine who told her beautiful Black son, "I hate you!" I can hardly think of a more hurtful situation than a mother actually forswearing the issue from her own body.

I can personally attest to the unfortunate and preventable hurtfulness which is, apparently, inescapably, unavoidably attached to people of color, worldwide, by the way. As the daughter of a Black father and a white mother who has had 'color-buffeting treatment' by multi-colored, miseducated people all my life, when I heard Tyra introduce the misled and obviously - U.S.A.-miseducated filmmaker of "Bi-Racial - Not Black, Dammit!" - I nearly had a blue cat! Give me a freakin' break!

Because of the monstrous miseducation systems - in the entire world, Victoria, not just in the U.S.A.! - which evidently refuses to teach its multi-colored hapless students about themselves - every single one of 'em descendants of the originating Black Afriicans - there still exists, again, worldwide, crass ignorance of self, viciousness (including color-based murders - especially by those suburdd-dwelling cops) toward 'others,' and everyday delivery of color-bigoted hurt.

Isn't it time to acknowledge, address and heal this hurt?

Sure! REMEDY: Start by administering to everyone, the www.racismtest.org* - and when dysfunctional responses to differences in color and culture are revealed, let that individual be referred to Ethnotherapy Counseling until she or he can THINK STRAIGHT about color and culture!

This remedy should be adopted by schools, universities, seminaries, business places, the military, government offices, political campaign organizations, medical institutions, courts systems, prisons - anywhere where hueman beings are making decisions about others.

Watch Yer Moles!

For years I've wondered about the purpose of moles. (Everything's on the Internet: wait a minute, lemme' go 'google' "moles" - be right back)

Okay, I got "Molesafe," explaining about clusters of melanin-producing cells and scary items about melanoma. Some of the other 'google' sites were about furry little borers. (Is this why they call spies "moles?")

As a nurse, I've notice that liness of moles on lots of people's bodies (including mine) run down what's called "the milk lines," down the sides of the face, neck, down the trunk, and into the groin.

And as I get older, the durn mole numbers increase. I got brown ones, (light, medium and dark) red ones (gazillions of the lil' buggers!), flat ones (usually grey!), bumpy ones, round ones, clustered ones - and they're all pesky!

I'm told if they're itchy, hie off to yer Dermatologist: Hey! Millions of folk in the U.S.A. don't have medical coverage! Quick, Mr. President: - give those people medical coverage!

Anyhow, since I've attained he privilege of being 'an Elder,' I've consulted my Dermatologist and had several of the 'in-an-uncomfy-place' pesky protuberances surgically-removed - no biggie; the devilish things are sent to a lab to determine if they're malignant; I'm only on tenterhooks for a week or so - until I get the good news that they're 'benign.'

I have observed others with all sortsa' moles - and I know we Blacks (and other people of color) get black, red & brown moles and I've even grown a coupla' what look like white moles...but do white people grow white moles? (I know they grow brown/black/red ones - does his mean they have 'Black' in 'em? Oh, Yeah, of course they do! ALL huemans are 'of Black African ancestry! Nearly forgot that.)

So, Holy Mole-y! I guess all a' we huemans gotta' WATCH our moles! What a thing! Worldwide mole-estation (pardon). I don't mean to make a mountain (of woe) outta' a mole hill! But I can't stop thinking that it's possible/probable that the pollution we huemans are sifting through the air, water, foodstuff (and cell phone and other EMF waves!) contributes to our steadily-escalating personal production of those little pesky pop-ups. UGH!

We're manufacturing moles up da' wazoo! I wonder if folk who live in (nearly) unspoiled pristine areas of the world (any left?) find fewer moles?

In the meanwhile, every time I have an itch, I'm poring over my body saying, "Oh, Lord! Is that another one of those "out-damn-spot!" multiple, multidimensional,multifarious, multitudinous, myriad melanin lumps?

Talk about lifes 'vicissitudes!' HALP!

One of life's bitterest pills to swallow indeed is the widespread confusion which plagues the everday lives of people of color. (not to mention the same confusion of others who think they're experts about their id!)

Vicious untreated racism/colorism, infusing societies worldwide, remains a sure symptom of post slavery traumatic syndrome, strongly-perpetuated by institutions of 'education' obdurately refusing to acknowledge and teach the truth about the Black African origin of all huemans.

Cruel Britannia: the immeasurable damage that the repercussions of British Empire colonizing has done to nations and people of color continues even to this very moment. In what other arena do the formerly-colonized openly brag about "the great education system" of the Brits? Yeah, 'great,' if one is talking about perpetuation of color (and class) artificial barriers to positive hueman interaction.

Especially onerous are individuals who resemble former slave owners arrogantly assuming the right to gratuitously dictate self-serving appellations to people they deem 'lesser' huemans ('lesser' because of the levels of observable skin melanin)

In other words, such 'color striation' infesting every nation on this planet - some to a greater degree than others (depending on the percentage of people of color in their population) is the unhealthy, counterproductive heritage which must be acknowledged and forthrightly dealt with if there is to be any security whatsoever for the citizens of this planet.

Take a look at the predation which has occurred (and still goes on) as a result of the actions of the D.C. war dawgs over at least the past 150 years: the U.S.A. has invaded hundreds of countries of color! The truth of the matter is that U.S.A. 'foreign' policy, like its domestic policy, operates on a de facto racist/colorist basis. (and just because the world's population is three-quarters of color is certainly no justification for those invasions)

However, as Malcom X so aptly observed, now it's a matter of "...the chickens coming home to roost..." - what we have today are increasingly alarming anti-social events caused by untreated racism/colorism against people of color who are no longer willing to 'take' such oppression and who 'act out' their frustration in unexpected-to-some vengeful ways; like the recently-executed D.C. sniper, John Malveau, and the Fort Hood military Psychiatrist Nadal Malik Hasan.

And, because they refuse to acknowledge what part that untreated racism/colorism has played in Hasan's case, the white male-owned-and-run U.S.A. media in its know-it-all-mode has begun blathering about his 'Muslim connections,' and possible 'terrorism involvement.' Predictable...

The depressingly-naive will cry, "Oh, but he killed Black people too!" DUH! Why do they continue to look for sanity in the actions of the obviously driven-insane? (anything other than putting the blame where it belongs: on pandemic untreated racism/colorism)

Finally, part of the required healing is for hueman beings to learn and acknowledge exactly who they are: what their identity really is. This means not only people 'of color,' but also the more 'rinsed out' generally- dominant people described (in their unearned skin-privilege) as 'white.'*

The basic usually-hidden truth is that there is only one hueman 'race,' which truth once and for all should scuttle the historic hegemonic hierarchical theory and practice of white supremacy.

As the Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, Inc. Motto goes: "Prejudice Is Learned - It Can Be Unlearned - Many colors - One race."

Only when one's identity is known (and acknowledged) then the oh-so-necessary healing of the world's societies can begin. 'Alla' we is one.

Well well well - here at the end of 2009 (already a year of ripe boners) comes the definitive test of whether someone's a racist (colorist) or not:

A white Louisiana Justice of the Peace, Keith Bardwell (ref. Digital Journal October 16, 2009 - Chris Dale), about his obdurate refusal to marry what CNN inaccurately labels an "interracial" couple (and we know there's no such animal 'cause there's only one hueman race):

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in
mixing the races that way. I have piles
and piles of Black friends...they even use my bathroom!..."

Oh my! His bathroom - maybe he should receive a Nobel Peace Prize for such largesse.

(This is what I get for watching CNN - Yo!)

See, in this 'post-racial' (they're kidding - right?) era, that cop Barnett, in Massachussetts, calls Blackfolk "banana-eating monkeys," and claims he's not racist (colorist); talkRat Rush Limbaugh's nutsy defenders say because he was prevented from purchasing the NFLeague's St. Louis Rams, it was a "high-tech lynching" (which arrogant 'rhetorical borrowing' egregiously trivializes the horrid lynching of Blacks in this hostile-to-color country and is extremely offensive); First lady Michelle Obama is labelled "a bitch;" white, male (mostly Catholic) cops nationwide slaughter Black males with impunity. Oh Yeah!

"We" have really 'come a long way' with color-relations in the U.S. of A. - NOT!

For all of the bozos who keep prating that because there's a Black Family in the White House, 'things' (meaning colorism) are 'better' - lemme' count some of the negative ways color matters:

In Phoenix, Arizona, although a Black man sitting in a car with a white woman were earlier taunted with "What are you doing with that white woman?" - Phoenix Police Commissioner is flatly refusing to label the Kelley Joeger slaying 'a hate crime,' stating only that "...there were racial overtones..." - Yeah, right!
"We" still have a milk-white mostly male Congress in this country;
The nation's cops are still stopping, frisking, beating and shooting Black males in the back (cops of any color don't shoot white males in the back) - go figure;
The white-owned restaurant "Greenhouse" is fighting a whopping one BILLION dollar lawsuit by best-selling author Teri Woods because they wouldn't allow over 160 of her Black guests into her book party at the restaurant;
Idiot Talk Show Host Glenn Beck calls President Barack Obama a racist (colorist);
The two white male racist (colorist) Homer, Louisiana cops who shot Black Elder Bernard Monroe Sr. dead, are still walking free, but recently resigned their police jobs.
(These are but a few of the instances of untreated racism/colorism)

Wake Up Amerikkka! - it's gonna' take a massive ongoing overhaul of this hostile-to-color society to prevent the above-mentioned color infractions from continuing to erode progress in the nation. Indeed, without www.racismtest.org -ing and treating all decision-makers in the fields of economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war - those infractions will certainly escalate - right in yer face!

But there are far too many people around who hide their heads in the sands of denial, like WBAI Pacifica Radio station's Janet Coleman who said once, when I called in to broach the www.racismtest.org [posted on www.Discussrace.com] as a topic for discussion, "I don't wanna' talk about that Test!"

It is one of society's last negative frontiers, says Carol Taylor, but it's being swept under the rug. So she wants to get people talking about what she calls "untreated racism(colorism)."

"The fact that we're not dealing with it in this multiethnic country is causing people to lose their lives," says Taylor, a registered nurse and writer living in East Flatbush. "I witness daily the outrageous slings and arrows of untreated racism(colorism) in this country."

Taylor view racism as "a form of social sickness," and the most effective way to rid society of it, she says, is to acknowledge that it exists.

She has found a way to stimulate the discourse that she believes will help build a healthier society. Ten years ago, Taylor founded the Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, Inc., a nonprofit organization that conducts workshops in Downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan at which participants are asked to take a Racism Quotient Test, then join a general discussion of their scores.

Today, Taylor and Mari Saunders, a psychologist who develped the 20 questions in the test based on racist remarks Saunders said she overheard, will administer it and other tests to a group to see if they might have qualified to be jurors for the O.J. Simpson trial.

One of the questions test-takers will be asked to answer: "At a social gathering with about 30 people, you enter a room where you appear to be the only member of your ethnic group. You would be most likely to: (a) leave the room in search of members of your own ethnic group; (b) stand around and hope someone would talk with you: (c) open a conversation with whoever looks interesting: (d) feel bored or uncomfortable, and wish you hadn't come."

The Village Voice ran the test in 1992. One third of the 4000 people who took it "were found to be dysfunctionally racist," Taylor said. She tells people whose scores reveal racist attitudes that it is "merely an indicator that you may have some work to do on yourself."

Taylor got the idea for the Racism Quotient Test while examining an IQ test. She said she thought if people could be tested for their intelligence they could be tested for their racism.

She set up the first workshops believing "One person could make a difference." Her organization wanted to prevent "further corrosion of hueman rights caused by racial disharmony," she said. "We're trying to attack something nobody wants to face."

"The objective is to improve communication between ethnic groups," add Taylor. "It is hoped that this will help bring about, however graduallly, a reprogramming of attitudes and an atmosphere in which...the worth of a hueman bing is not predicated upon the color of one's skin or one's ethnic background. You're allowed to think and feel any way you want about anybody, but not to rob someone else of their hueman rights.

Taylor feels recent events make it "more important than ever to deal with the untreated racism(colorism) in this country."

She cites Gov.-elect George Pataki making the death penalty a priority; passage of Proposition 187, the California measure that would end government services to undocumented immigrants; Susan Smith, the South Carolina mother who killed her children and accursed a Black man, and The Bell Curve, a controversial new book that many believe perpetuates ethnic stereotypes.

These examples, she said, "are illustrative of the deep sickness within the social body of America."

But Taylor believes, "everyone is racist(colorist)," and does not believe people of color are immune to that characterization. To those who say Blacks can't be racist(colorist) because they are not empowered, she responds, "I don't believe it is possible to live in this racist(colorist) society without some of it rubbing off on ourselves. People say Black people can't be racist(colorist) or color-prejudiced but they can be both."

America's first African-American flight attendant - Taylor - who says she has Cherokee, white and Black blood - is a long-time activist. In 1985, after her son was mugged "and the police treated him more like the perpetrator than the victim," she wrote and published The Little Black Book, which advises young Black males how to behave to avoid confrontations when they are stopped by police.

Taylor's organization is reaching out to people all across the country. Saunders said anti-racism(colorism) laws alone aren't the answer.

"Prejudice won't be cured by legislation. It's an individual thing," she said. "Until each of us is willing to take personal responsibility for the way we feel about and treat others based on race, religion, nationality, sexual preference, lifestyle or culture, we are not probing the essence of the problem."

Supporters recognize the value of the workshops as a catalyst for discussion.

People won't talk about racism(colorism)," agreed Jean Dember MHS, founder and president of 'Africans United For Sanity Now,' an organization trying to make racism(colorism) a mental-health issue.

Dember thanked Taylor and Saunders for "venturing into an area where angels fear to tread."

I'm convinced they're out to screw us consumers every day in every way - and make us love 'em for the consumer abuse with slogans about 'the Customer's always right' - wrong.

Big Business - no conscience; Big Pharma - no Karma!

Squatting on the lower rungs of society's power ladder, the poorest, unorganized consumers can only sit, wince and watch as greedy merchants double-stamp-raise prices of basic goods already on shelves right in front of their needy faces.

One irate but powerless - except for not purchasing stuff at that store again! - consumer recently went to downtown BLYN to 'Perlandra' (yes! I've named 'em!-so sue me!) to purchase her regular bottle of Barlean's Flaxseed Oil - (usually $15.75) and when she reached the cashier, was shocked to be told, "That'll be $19.95, Ma'am!"

In the 30 days 'between bottles,' how in God's Good Name did the price go from $15.75 to $19.95 - a $4.20 unconscionable increase?

As a former Co-Founder and past President of the Barbados, West Indies 'Bajan consumer League' (I even named it), returning to live in the U.S.A. after 14 delightful years in the sun, and watching the merchants in my Black neighborhood doing their dirty double-stamping and compliant consumers standing for it - I'm, almost, tempted to damage my health at this Elder age by either joining with an already-established consumer group , or starting another one myself! Oi!

And one of the first most irritating dictatorial issues I'd tackle is the 'we-know-y'all-can't-do-anything-about-it' obvious dirty-boy conspiracy Big Business operates with the TV stations: turning up the volume of and showing all of the TV ads at the same damn time!

Oh! That really bugs me - and I'm sure it bugs most consumer-viewers too! Just try to escape the sudden volume upturn ear-assault in the bedroom/livingroom or the urgent 'call-right-now-or-lose-out' continuous cadging for your consumer cash!

And their 'get-something-for-nothing' specious claims of "free gifts!" (the most oxymoronic phrase ever used) - should be an ominous warning for beleagured viewers, but evidently the present generation of shoppers haven't been taught the apt Latin phrase: "CAVEAT EMPTOR!"

It's certainly time for a "CONSUMER-UNITE REVOLUTION: No more 'money's tight' excuses as they greedily, and, it seems, forever, beat us over the heads and pockets with precipitous deouble-stamping soaring prices for food and items already on the shelves!

the first black flight attendant of either sex for a U.S. airline and an activist, was born Ruth Carol Taylor in Boston, Massachusetts, the older of two children of Ruth Irene Powell, a registered nurse, and William Edison Taylor, a barber and farmer, who lived in nearby Cambridge.

After several years in New York City, the family moved to a farm in Trumansburg, in upstate New York, where Taylor grew up. She attended Elmira College for Women in Elmira, New York, and New York University in New York City, became"a registered nurse in 1955 upon graduation from the Bellevue Schools of Nursing at New York University, and practiced nursing for the next three years.

With the nation's airlines under pressure to break the color line, Taylor became one of about eight hundred ''Negro girls" interviewed by Mohawk Airlines, a regional carrier based in Ithaca, New York, which she said wanted worldwide publicity. Being, as she later explained, "near-white enough with aquiline features, so-called" and having deliberately given safe answers to airline interviewers' questions, she made her initial flight as the "first Negro airline hostess" on 11 February 1958. The landmark was reported in The New York Times, the New York Herald Tribune, and Time magazine and on the cover of Jet. Bored by the job, she quit after six months, never having been invited to eat with the other crew members. Nonetheless, once Taylor broke the color barrier other airlines gradually began adding black people to their flight crews. Fifty years later in 2008, Taylor's accomplishment was memorialized by the New York State Assembly.

In 1960 she married Rex Norman Legall and gave birth to a daughter, Cindy Legall. In 1969 she had a son, Laurence Legall Taylor, whose father was a colonel in the Barbados military, Laurence G. Quintyne, M.B.E. Her grandson, Tyler Legall, was born to her daughter in 1997. Taylor's husband died in 2008. "

After spending about five years in Trinidad, London, and New York City during which she covered the 1963 March on Washington for Flamingo, a British magazine with an Afro-Caribbean readership, Taylor settled in Barbados and lived there from 1964 to 1977. She was a community activist on consumer affairs and women's rights, among other issues.
\ Wanting a less insular life for her children, Taylor brought them to Brooklyn in 1977, where she remained for more than thirty years. As a widely known grassroots activist, she spoke, wrote commentaries for local black-owned newspapers, and attended innumerable demonstrations against police brutality and other injustices, even shaving her head once to emphasize her protest.

Calling herself a " blacktivist," she deployed neologisms and nontraditional spellings in articles, riffs, and jeremiads; on handmade signs; and during media interviews and speeches in order to raise public awareness that all people on earth are part of a single "hueman" race descended from "beautiful blueblack" Africans-although, she said dryly, some people "are more rinsed-out than others." She firmIy rejected "African American" as exclusionary and identified herself as "a black African." Varying her diction and enunciation from cultivated to rowdy, scatological, gleeful, or satiric at will, she advocated the word "colorism" as more accurate and incisive than "racism." She considered "race" a bogus concept and words like "biracial," "transracial," and "interracial" meaningless. Yet she said, "If you're not playing the race card, you're not playing with a full deck." In order "to agitate," she said that God is a black woman.

Taylor saw "untreated racismlcolorism" as a rampant disease in the United States. In 1982 she
decided that a racism quotient test, analogous to an IQ test, was needed. Collaborating with a
psychologist, Mari P. Saunders, she developed what came to be called the racism/colorism Quotient Test (RQ). Its twenty multiple-choice questions were designed to reveal the extent of the test-taker's bias regarding workplace, neighborhood, and social situations. Then education and healing- "remedial ethnotherapy"--could follow in a nonthreatening, nonjudgmental vein.

In the same year Taylor and Saunders founded the Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, inserting the quotation marks later, to administer the test and offer diversity training in the public and private sectors. The Institute's motto was "Prejudice is learned. It can be unlearned." The RQ test could be taken, free of charge, at the Institute's website, http://www.racismtest.org. Test-takers received their scores and evaluations immediately, online.

When the RQ test was published in 1992 by The Village Voice, a local weekly newspaper, four
thousand of its predominantly white, liberal readers submitted responses. A third of them, Taylor said, were "dysfunctional in their responses to color and cultural differences." She often wrote to journalists and to political, civic, educational, and religious leaders, urging that the RQ test be given to all police, judges, jurors, teachers, doctors, and others before they were allowed to make decisions affecting black people's lives.

After her teenaged son was mugged twice and then treated like a criminal when he sought help from the police, Taylor self-published The Little Black Book: Black African Male Survival in America or Staying Alive and Well in an Institutionally Racist Society (1985). The pocket-sized pamphlet contained about thirty rules and recommendations to protect young black men, whom Taylor considered an endangered group. By 2008 she said that more than two hundred thousand copies of The Little Black Book had been sold, often in bulk, at two dollars each. Taylor carried copies with her everywhere she went, wearing a sign on her clothing identifying herself as its author and selling single copies on sidewalks and buses. The pamphlet was also available from bookstores, schools, unions, libraries, and religious organizations and from littleblackbook@juno.com.

While objecting to nationwide suppression of black voting, she herself refused to vote after the early 1980s, regarding the system as corrupt She dismissed voting as "a major soporific for the control of the masses." Holding dual U.S. and Barbadian citizenship, she said, "I am a world citizen." She continued advancing her views on current affairs online at http://www.caroltaylorword.blogspot.com.

Her work was covered by The New York Times, The Washington Post, the New York Amsterdam News, The Boston Globe, New York Newsday, Library Journal, the Gannett newspaper group, and other news organizations.

Taylor's impassioned blactivism, visible in her raised, clenched fist or one-finger salute at
demonstrations, was coupled with receptivity to strangers of all colors in her daily life. She welcomed conversations with them. When people recognized her and greeted her warmly, asking "How are you?" her usual reply was succinct. "At war," she said.

(Keep this in mind as you read this book: what equity can be expected from a country which spends gazillions on bombing the moon rather than feeding the hungry on earth?)

A dictionary definition of 'sovereignty' is 'power to govern without external control.'

First, let me applaud Ezrah Aharone for highlighting the dependent plight of us Blacks in America so deftly: his descriptions of historical events should be gratefully accepted.

However, his use of the too popular exclusive phrase 'African American" and 'race' instead of 'color,' unfortunately lends itself to misleading the unwary reader.

While, on the one hand, Sovereign Evolution aims to promote worldwide consciousness of sovereign rights, surely a lofty and monumental task in and of itself; on the other hand, in a very worthwhile way, it gives serious readers surprising revelations not usually presented to the public - for instance - the incredible chart on page 214 showing that Britain is not the only country led by incestuous ruling family members. Not only is George Bush cousin to forty other Presidents and Vice Presidents, the current President Barack Obama is a distant cousin to Bush and five other Presidents! OUCH!

This, of course, promotes much heavy pondering about the very relevance of 'the vote' in a so-called democracy and underscores the low-level potential of ending such an inherited hegemonic hierarchy. (But certainly give thanks to Aharone for bravely raising the question)

While independence and 'do-for-self' libertarian ideas are appealing to many hopeful folk, we are left to wonder, when most huemans are but an admixture of colors anyway, how any theory of ascendancy for Blacks to positions of 'governing without external control' actually holds water! What's the definition of 'external' when it comes to color? We know what 'control' means, especially these days.

But unless Blacks ('African Americans' to the exclusionists) are prepared to incorporate an Israeli 'control' - (guns & bombs & land grabs) God-Knows-Where, and/or a U.S.A. True Grit in The Community

The place to be recently was certainly at the people's landmark Brooklyn Antioch Baptist Church at the historic Racism Quotient Test Forum for '100 Blacks In Education Who Care,' held - open and Free Admission - by the Institute For "Interracial" Harmony, Inc.

In the spirit of Margaret Mead's ever-current observation: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has," a group of multi-colored concerned committed citizens from near and far gathered together for the express purpose of determining how each of them had been the unwitting recipients of a subliminal pervasively racist/colorist conditioning by an institutionally color-biased education system, and, as the attractive Flyer for the event stated, "...be a part of what is being called a major solution to police killings of Black males - including a needed healing of epicemic & untreated racism/colorism in the wider society."

As the worthy goals of the conference were laid out to the rapt audience, it became increasingly clear that this was no watered-down coming together of folk from disparate walks of life. It was an extraordinary exchange of thoughtfully-crafted, insightful ideas and experiences, based on valid concerns for a society which is riven and divided, unfortunately, by the artificial barriers of color bias.

What emerged early into the too-short one and a half hours was an intense, caring jewel of an event, highlighted by unexpected 'Aha!' interjections by the excited participants.

The sheer number of responses to the 20 questions in the Racism Quotient Test (Concept by Carol Taylor R.N.; questions composed by Ethnotherapy Psychologist Dr. Mari Saunders, Ph.D.) nearly encroached on the time allocated, by the neat Forum Agenda, for enjoying the delicious cuisine catered by Venes, (assisted by Rev. Bert Whitney) wife of the I"I"H Forum Convener, Vice President Laurence William Legall.

As the tripoded camera, manned by the professional Videographer - all the way up from Washington, D.C. - faithfully-recorded questions from ministers, educators, concerned parents and published authors, it became patently obvious that the individuals who'd taken the Racism /Colorism Quotient Test had been mentally-stimulated into examining their thoughts, ideas and possibly preconceived mistaken notions about themselves and others, thereby delightfully fulfilling the role that Harvard Law Professor Lani Guinier proposed: (paraphrased) "...to put the issue of racism (colorism) on the front burner so as to be able to deal with it in a non-threatening public arena in a forthright manner."

Antioch's ministers including Pastor of Antioch, Rev. Waterman, the author of "Pawned Sovereignty, Ezrah Aharone (from New Jersey), peripatetic Videographer Glynn Behmen (from D.C.), Poetess/Author Jewell Allison, Radio Pacifica WBAI Radio Talk Show Host, Blactivist Ian Forest, '100 Blacks In Education Who Care' President, Dr. Jackie Cody, boss Photographer Stephen Kelly (whose late Father was killed by an NYPD cop; coincidentally the Dad's name is in The Little Black Book's list of Black males murdered by cops in the U.S.A.), Editor/Publisher/Journalist Marie Shear, Rev. Minister Bert Whitney, Liberation Photographer Rose Maldonado, Forum Able-Aids Brother & Sister Cochran and ten year old 'Honesty,' among too many others to herein list, took the www.racismtest.org [posted on www.discussrace.com] bought bias-bustin' T-Shirts("If You're Not Playin' The Race Card - You're Not Playin' With A Full Deck - Racism/Colorism Must Be Dealt With") and 'The Little Black Book: Black Male Survival in America.'

The success of the Forum was reflected by the reluctance of the participants to stop talking with each other about the vital issue of racism/colorism - its effects and solutions; - 'True Grit' indeed!

Picture 'The Ultimate Whistleblower' as a strong Black Brother pulling the 'In-Denial' covers off every state in the Union in every arena of people activity, as being infested with untreated racism/colorism; in other words in: Economics, Education, Entertainment, Labor, Law, Politics, Religion, Sex and War.

What we have here is a giant 'conspiracy-by-coincidence,' a social situation which, if the dangerous denial, of untreated racism/colorism, were not so stuborn and pervasive, the costly, degrading, counterproductive misery it causes would not be continuously eroding the fabric of life for so many in these United States of America. It's an epidemic, Stupid!

But see, literally no one in public life (except Attorney General Eric Holder and former President Jimmy Carter - singularly honest and brave men that they are -) wants to admit to the thorny truth about America's hoary heritage of rancid racism/colorism.

Interestingly enough, the recent CNN-reported Face Book Poll - "Should President Obama Be Killed?" - absolutely opprobrious as it is, is nevertheless reflective of the awesome high level of willingness of the white majority public to tolerate such outrageous slings and arrows of intolerance against people of color no matter what positions they hold.

A color-unbiased observer might well ask, "Where was/is the valid outcry against such rabble-rousing colorist actions?" Sadly, as more and more incidents of unremitting bias ooze out of the woodwork, the toleration levels of the public seem to rise commensurately, for sure encouraging violence against those wearing skins of melanin. There is a price to pay for all of this negativity and it's going to be paid not only by the escalating number of victims of color bias.

This entire society already pays, and pays through the nose; just add up the millions of taxpayer dollars assessed as penalties for widespread (but mostly under-intercepted) 'racial'-color-targeting of Black males by the nation's police departments, trying as they may be, to stem such color bias, without you notice, before they're let loose in Black neighborhoods, first determining what cops are dysfunctional, by racism/colorism testing (with the www.racismtest.org [posted on www.discussrace.com] ) their individual cops with referrals to Ethnotherapeutic counseling where indicated. (Don't fail to read ex-cop Charles Castro's "NYPD BLUE LIES" for irrefutable evidence documenting such untreated racism/colorism!)

Unfortunately, untreated racism/colorism does not only hamstring the police departments; it permeates, as aforementioned, all of the people arenas of activity and must be acknowledged and firmly and formally extirpated for the good of the society.

While Decrying It

It never fails to bemuse me how otherwise intelligent folk can stubbornly persist in utilizing what seems to me to be racism/colorism-perpetuating words and phrases and still get up on platforms to decry the very same racism/colorism!

Take, for instance, the too-commonly-used inaccurate word 'races;' surely anyone claiming to be well-read has encountered, via substantiated scientific reports, anthropological material, authors such as Professor Ali Mazrui, Professor Ivan Van Sertima, Cheik Anta Diop, Dr. John Henrik Clarke, Lerone Bennett, Professor Molefi asante, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, Dr. Jeanie Baines,Drs. Leonard and Roslyn Jeffries, Dr. Ed Scobie, Dr. Charsie MacIntyre, among too many others to herein list, and the well-supported fact that not only is there but ONE hueman 'race,' but that it started Black in Black Africa.

If those semantic laggards haven't ever read the aforementioned authors, haven't they seen the famous Geneticist Dr. Spencer Wells videotape, "Journey Of Man?" - (available at 1-800 PLAY PBS) - which describes his amazing genetic work establishing forever the fact that "man" began in Africa, Black and beautiful and Progenitor of all of us 'earthlings,' irrespective of what color we are.

One the one hand, we, ad infinitum and nauseam, continue to hear and see TV and radio anchors and hosts and guests gabbing about 'people of all races.' On the other hand, even famous professors, popular politicians and zealous religious leaders and supposedly intelligent scholars, spout off about 'people of African descent,' meaning only Black folk (as though all huemans are not 'of African descent!) Talk about 'the blind leading the blind)

And don't get me wrong; I'm not posturing as someone who never also used such inanities! Before I began reprogramming myself from the gross, egregious miseducation in this hostile-to-color country that I received from the still-extant U.S.A (mis)education system rooted insularly in Europeanism, I used the same inaccurate phrases. (especially the nutsy meaningless word, 'interracial')

Now, every single time I hear or see these bias-perpetuating misnomers, I cringe, and whenever possible, pass on my blogged 'SEMANTICS CHART,' in an ongoing effort to resolve such untreated racism/colorism.

Even that expression, 'racism/colorism/ is an effort to persuade folk to see that the word 'race' - in its current use along with its derivatives - 'tri-bi-multi-racial' are grievously inaccurate and counterproductive in a society which prides itself as having progressive and equitable goals.

For those shortsighted individuals who think that untreated racism/colorism (and utilizing such colorist language/rhetoric) isn't 'all that important,' let me admonish them to remove their heads from the proverbial sand; there's no dignity in denial.

And for those who say 'Oh, I'm so tired of hearing about that race thing!" (there they go again) - let 'em go turn Black. Instant understanding!

Saturday, 19th September, 2009, Cable news station CNN reported on the U.S.A. President Obama's response to the vital question: 'was South Carolina Republican Representative Joe Wilson's shout at him - "YOU LIE!" based on racism as former President Jimmy Carter stated?'

(You should know that several other media outlets are also covering allegedly racist/colorist issues raging around the country)

My question is: "How long will otherwise savvy people continue to try to avoid/evade the sorry fact that untreated racism/colorism actually infects every arena of people activity: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war? (thereby avoiding doing something to heal/prevent it?")

President Obama's reticence about facing the stark reality of the colorism problem is dismaying; his literal watering down of the issue was only too obvious in his response to ex-President Carter's forthright charge of racism(colorism): "...there are some people who don't like me because of race...*" NO, President Obama, there is only ONE hueman 'race' - many (sick) people don't like you because of your COLOR! - and because they've been 'miseducated in America' about who they are - descended from Black Africans in Black Africa and consequently all part of the ONE hueman 'race.' *my emphasis

The educational entities in this hostile-to-color country are still failing their students abysmally by concentrating mostly on European countries and people, barely and rarely educating about that vast, rich, important continent of Africa from which all huemanity originated.

This egregious failure undergirds and perpetuates the counterproductive and escalating racism/colorism now epidemic in and roiling our society.

It does absolutely no good for anyone, including the Leader of the country, the President, to continue to engage in euphemism, side-stepping, moonwalking denial of the deleterious effects of unacknowledged and untreated racism/colorism. (He really needs to take a page from his brave Attorney General Eric Holder's statement about "cowards" in this society hiding from the reality of racism/colorism)

If any individual would like to begin to determine how institutional racism/colorism has affected their own thinking (and behavior) they, including President Obama and every other decision-maker, especially the police, the educators and the U.S.A. mediafolk) should take the www.racismtest.org [posted on www.Discussrace.com] and where dysfunctional responses to differences in color and culture are revealed, go into Ethnotherapeutic counseling until they can THINK STRAIGHT about color and culture. If anyone says "Tests aren't reliable; they won't adopt that Test, tesing won't cure anything," all of this is irrelevant, racism-testing is a start, in the face of such national renegade treatment of huemans wearing skins of observable melanin and in the absence of anything else that's working. As Professor Lani Guinier so aptly said (paraphrasing) "Racism needs to be publicly discussed in a non-threatening arena so as to put the issue on the front burner."

Our DEMAND for wholesale Racism Quotient Testing is a righteous one - holding this entire country of America* accountable for the life-and-limb-threatening mess in which Blackfolk've been trying to exist ever since being kidnapped from the shores of Africa; it is that untenable mess which must be acknowledged and cleaned up, by ending the vicious denial and being honest and forthright. And now, ad nauseam, we in New York City are treated to a whiney, white, greedy, money-grubbing billionnaire mayor singing paeans to himself (masturbating on the millions) in prime time TV ads bragging about what he's purportedly done for the Department of Mis-Mal-Education! (Who pays for this misleading intrusiveness?)

If Bloomburg wants honest encomiums, let him, as he resigns, turn over three-quarters of his billions to the Board of Education with the proviso that they revise the Curriculum so that it teaches its teachers and its students about themselves as being the descendants of the originating Black Africans in Black Africa (formerly called "Alkebulan" and "Gondwanaland").

But, let no one miss connecting the dots of such egregious omission: the main reasons for the wars we've witnessed, waged by the United States of America's domineering white males down through the agonizing years, are greed - a vicious addictive yearning to master 'materials' - and gross miseducation-by-omission of teaching about huemanity's Black origins.

The U.S.A. has, wih impunity, murderously invaded hundreds of countries - mostly 'of color' - spreading death and destruction on the inhabitants and then sending in 'clean-up' bevies of spies to maintain its ill-gotten empire-driven control. "I write in the name of all of the Black African mothers of Black African sons in the city. How dare you, our public servant, send a message to our sons that their lives are less valuable than a damn dog's?

This is the obvious inference anyone with half a brain could draw when you fire two (Latino, non-white, I might note) cops for beating a damn dog to death, and squat in your seat at One Police Plaza, inactively, refusing to fire Nassu County-Westchester and Orange County-living rampaging racist/colorist cops who routinely beat and murder our Black African males!

How dare you continue to suppress 90 per cent of the substantiated cases of police brutality against our people, when the "Civilian" Complaint Review Board tries to deal with the corruption we call racist/colorist police brutality? ('Police Accountability Would Stop the Brutality' NY Times newspaper letter to the Editor: Rev. Reuben Diaz, 4/29/95). It is obvious that the Director of the Board, Hector Soto, is leaving because he, at least, has a conscience: he can't continue to be a part of a "buffer" Board which protects killer racist/colorist cops from criminal prosecution.

How dare you, our public servant, paid by our tax dollars (taxation without representation) desecrate, in my opinion, the office of the Commissioner of Police by making a mockery of just law in this city by overreacting to the death of a damn dog? I truly believe that you should resign and get the psychiatric care which such inappropriate behavior demands.

And where is your boss, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, in all of this tragic-comedy? Ominously silent.

that their leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, should be jailed for crimes against huemanity;
that weapons of mass-Palestinian-destruction are used with apparent impunity;
how damn long can the illegal, repeat, illegal 'state' of Israel be allowed to contravene international laws just because it claims to have been Hitler's victim?

Is it really the scurrilous truth that 'our' political reps in the U.S.A. Congress are 'honorary' members of the Israeli Knesset? (I don't like that 'tail waggin' da' dawg' stuff!)

Is this why so many of our U.S.A. billions of tax dollars are siphoned off each year into the fat coffers of those Israeli childkillers (who used a murder-tank to crush the life out of Rachel

I guess that saying "Dumbing Down of America" - off-putting as it is - isn't so far off the mark; connecting the dots about the Officer Omar Edwards Slaying and the Von Brunn Holocaust Museum Shootings is essential if we are to produce a safer environment. If folk aren't taught who they are, they will continue to believe that they have the God-given right to take the lives of those they feel are 'different' from them.

We've got literally millions of victimized students emerging from 'education' institutions in this country, sadly without a clue as to who they really are, grossly miseducated, in some instances by similarly miseducated 'educators,' and, on the other hand, some purposely miseducated, by immoral defenders of the status-white-quo.

What do I mean and why am I so irate about the egregious omission-of-the-truth-in-teaching? Well, most of my life, I've been one of those 'dumbed-down' individuals, bereft of the knowledge of self, no thanks to an institutionally racist/colorist miseducating white-monopolized sysdumb which - dammit - to this day still spews out bilge about alleged white heroes (like lyin' George Washington, pedophile Thomas Jefferson, lost Christopher Columbus* amongst too many others to herein list). *Check out the late Professor Ivan Van Sertima's "They Came Before Columbus")

This hypocritical sociey urges everyone to 'get an education!' - without teaching its students who they really are - descendants all, of the earliest huemans, Black Africans in Black Africa. This society (and too many of the entire world's institutions) is still mal-teaching that European, white 'Plymouth Rockers' had the noble right to land on 'American' shores and take over the land of the of-color Indigenous residents.

Early one morning my Daughter told me about a CNN news item describing a ditsy card a U.S.A. Mayor, Dean Gross (aptly named) had sent to President Obama, with rows of watermelon in front of the White House, with a caption predicting 'no more egg hunts on the White House lawn.' Gross later denied knowing that this was racist/colorist stereotyping. (And I'm the Tooth Fairy!)

Right after the 'anger-thunk!' hit my brain in the "You-always-gotta'-watch-out-for-them-colorists' section, I started remembering my Dad's reaction as he was planting vegetables in our upstate New York farm garden, to the remark by a white man passing by in his horse-driven cart, "What 'chu' plantin' there, boy, watermelon?"

My Mother, who just happened to hear what we conscious Blackfolk know is a stereotypical slur, rushed out of the house to save the hapless white man from the sure pummeling Dad was about to deliver to him.

As I thought about the Gross slur, I began to imagine, in these times of heightened colorism concerns - not decreased certainly by the entrance of those beautous Obamas into the White House - what it would mean to be a white male in America today:

1. If I were as color-sick as the white man who sent the watermelon post card to Obama or the white man who asked Dad if he were planting watermelons, my actions would indicate a dysfunctional level of untreated racism/colorism and would illustrate my inordinate fear - not buried too deeply - of the genetic annhilation of people unfortunate enough to've been 'rinsed out' by nature's evolution/climate to the point of wearing no observable skin melanin.(Hence our unhealthy pursuits of 'tans' at the beaches, risking skin cancer)

2. I'd remember (not frequently) the accounts of Black males bing dragged to death behind Texas trucks; other lynchings of Blacks; the assassinations of Medgar Evers & Martin Luther King, Jr.; the killings of those little Black girls in that Birmingham church; the continuing slaughters by cops of Black males of any age or spoken language, among other outrages against Blackfolk and know that some day, somehow, somewhere, some time, Blacks would stop being societys' Milktoasts, stand up collectively for themselves and come for retribution and Reparations against people looking like me (white & male);

3. I'd be particularly ansty as I read through the incredibly savvy list of whiteskin unearned privileges put together by Dr. Peggy MacIntosh in her "Paper 189") from Wellesley College; (Google her name and be sorely shocked by the quality and quantity of her listings);

4. In my eurocentric societally-conditioned-by-our-racist/colorist-miseducating-U.S.A. 'Eduucation' System, I'd be looking askance and with undisguised opprobrium and fear at local Blacks, Hispanics of color, brown-skinned Muslims and immigrants of color who, I've been mistakenly taught, are taking jobs away from white folk like me, and

5. I'd be walkng around in the equally-mistaken belief that I'm better than all of the above-mentioned 'coloreds' in #4 and therefore utterly confused whenever I saw or heard about any one of them making more money than I did. (And I'd hate Tiger Woods and Oprah Winfrey and be glad O.J. Simpson, Little Kim and Michael Vicks were finally jailed).

Well, for the first time in all of my own Black 77 year life, I was able to contemplate what it must feel like to be in the skin of a white male here in the year 2009, smack dab in the midst of Black History month (which those white male Congressmen are now trying to eradicate)

I think it's only right that I slaute the new, bold and brave United States of America Attorney General The Hon. Eric Holder right now, as I again enjoy the splendid sea, sand and sun in his family's beauteous island of Barbados, West Indies.

I say 'bold and brave' because of his unprecedented challenge to inhabitants in the entire U.S.A. to join with him to right the terrible wrongs of untreated racism/colorism which cowards employ to prevent people of color from enjoying full and equal equity in every arena of people activity, i.e. law, economics, education, entertainment, politicsm labor, religon, sex and war.

So, right from the 'get go' with Mr. Eric Holder in that important office, can those of us who've continually fought the good fight against the rampant color bigotry down through countless years dare to hope that finally, after decades of allowing colorist hate groups like the KKK, skinheads and other mentally ill misfits to flourish, the Government of the great U.S.A. is taking a ZERO TOLERANCE principled stand against illogical, illegal behavior and acts based on consideration of color instead of on character?

Of course, the fact that the Office of the Attorney General of the U.S.A. has behind it all of the laws in the Constitution of the land to deal effectively with colorist crime certainly increases hope for a more equitable society - especially for people of color. I've long fumed ofver the colorist hypocrisy extant in the courtrooms of the U.S.A. - by not acknowledging and correcting the inherited institutional racism/colorism within the entire society but behaving as though it doesn't affect the outcome of trials, court directors, judges, lawers, etc., have been complicit in only God knows how many wrong unfair verdicts have been rendered as they blithely carry on 'business as usual.' And this is only one, albeit important, critical arena where the infection of untreated racism/colorism s allowed to rot the fabric of this society.

All court participant should have to take the www.Racismtest.org prior to any trial - and where their responses to differences in color and culture are dysfunctional, be referred to Ethnotherapeutic Counseling until they can think straight.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright was right. If the new Attorney General Holder can effect some of his anti-colorist-bias programs, not only would the cities in the U.S.A. not have to shell out millions of
taxpayers' dollars for cops' killings of so many Black males, but fed-up folk could join with others sincerely shouting "God Bless America" instead of "God Damn Anerica!"

She's up there smiling down on us with that ever-loving, caring twinkle in her eye. If ever anyone deserved Heaven, it's Jeannette Layne Clarke.

And if ever anyone deserves to have a statue erected where the schoolchildren and other Barbadians and visitors can see her, it's Jeannette Layne Clarke. (I know there's statues of Gary Sobers and others in the island, but I can't recall seeing a statue of a woman like her who has given so much for so long to all of us)

This will be a short one - (and I won't 'lick my mout') the most important point is my suggestion that as soon as is huemanly possible (and the huemanely is not misspelled) that a grateful and loyal Barbadian public erect a Jeannette Layne Clarke Statue please.

I remember many productive meetings with Jeannette when we formed WOW womens' organization - charting the goals for equitable treatment of the distaff side of the popluation. I also remember her many efforts at ensuring that all of the news reached the Barbados public instead of 'only the positive' news chosen by a few.

The kudos and remembrances and roses about her will be many - Jeannette is already missed; there went such a talented, compassionate, insightful person which words just cannot do justice to - so I'll stop here and smile - as I remember some of the trenchant quips and 'right on' observances she shared with me and made my life all the more enjoyable.

Guess what? I was 'killing sleep' this morning - had a late night - and was awakened by a remarkably beautiful phone call.

As I grumpily 'picked up' wondering who was calling so 'early' (it wasn't) my irritation turned into amazed delight. A woman's inquiring voice said, "Is this the number of Dr. Peter Breggin or Carol Taylor?"

Well! It turned out that somehow her brother, residing in a mental health facility, had asked her to contact us because he'd been helped by reading one of my articles mentioning Dr. Breggin's peerless work. How serendipitous was this?

To say I truly enjoyed our mid-morning conversation is an understatement: (You never know where or when or in what form the BlAcktivist work you do will come back to you)

To be mentioned in the same breath as Dr. Peter Breggin was high praise.. FYI, I learned about Dr. Breggin's fine work reading his thoughts, which inspired me to write about the untreated racism/colorism at the National Health Institute's launch of 'The Violence Initiative' - an irrational, color-profiling targeting of young Black males in the U.S.A.

Sometimes when we might be succumbing to feelings of 'weariness-in-the-struggle,' right at the lowest point, it is restorative to remember "It's not what happens, it's what you do about it" that matters and - to KOKO - "Keep On Keeping' On"- let that slogan filter through your thoughts; allow it to strenghten your reserve, support your determination to take positive action; make positive change (in spite of obstacles or 'nay-sayers') in any way you choose, not to let "them" win; gird your loins, straighten your back and feel blessed enuff to be able to KOKO!

That's what the 'early' phone call did for me this morning: The 'Struggle Continues' because we'll continue to struggle!

Ever since I was a little girl, there's been a smoldering in my gut about being maltreated because I was born with more estrogen than testosterone, although in those early days I thought only in terms of being a non-favored girl instead of a favored boy. Brother was always allowed outside to do myriad 'interesting' tasks in and around the barn while I was sequestered in the house washing dishes and dusting).

As I matured, I became only too aware that the society in which I was raised automatically relegated its females into 'lesser than' categories in every single bloody arena of people activity: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, religion, politics, sex and war! (Thanks to the eminent Black Female Psychiatrist Dr. Frances Cress Welsing for that list)

The enormity of this worldwide oppression/terrorism-by-gender has steadily and starkly encroached on my sense of entitlement as one of the Creator's Inventions in Her Infinite Wisdom & Mercy ever since. Let me count (some of) the ways:

Where Oh where to begin? With the actual slaughtering of females by males around the world because of specious judgements? Being deprived of your life for any reason, by anyone(s), of course is deplorable, but damn-it-to-Hell, it's double-deplorable when the deprivation of life hinges merely on being female! Like in those backward-ass places which males' 'sense of damaged honor' gives them the 'right' to kill 'their' women, even in some stink places, their own daughters and/or other female relatives because 'she brought dishonor' to his feeble behind!

Then, in some areas of this fatally-genderist world, females are killed, some buried alive, because of sexual activities (euphemistically called 'adultery').

I cite these atrocities by loss-of-life incidents first, although the untenable and gruesome fact is that in most cases, females themselves have been evilly-conditioned to believe in and to allow horrible physical, mental, spiritual, psyhological, psychic, intellectual unjustifiable, egregious, inhuemane incursions into their femaleness! At this point in my painful list of anti-female outrages, I digress in order to state categorically and without compunction:

"At each and every birth of girl babies, there should be a Contract drawn with her society that her parents/guardians will, as soon as is huemanly possible, enroll her in Martial Arts Instruction until she can efficiently defend her Creatoress-given body. Then, at whatever age she is allowed out of her parents'/guardians' sight, she will be trained in Gun Protocol and given a Glock pistol.

Female Survival Classes should be mandatory specifically for all girl children worldwide; first the soul-saving knowledge that they, in many areas, are the majority population; that everyone was at conception, female!- then, that they're endowed with brain cells which, when given adequate stimulation, can lead them to almost unlimited endeavors and accomplishments despite societal dissuasions; that they are as worthwhile as any, any other being on earth and as such are entitled to equal opportunity and equal pay: (females in the U.S.A. still in 200-bloody-9 only earn 78cents for every dollar paid to males - for doing the same ding-dong work!)

I now continue listing the worldwide gender-terrorism against those who've been born female, although when I point out that, biologically, every hueman is born female at conception, and then specialization occurs later on in some of the fetuses so that males can develop [the Creatoress's Largesse] societally-conditioned, mostly misogynist individuals - yes, Virginia - including too many females! - are appalled and generally in angry denial of this scientifically proven fact.

Then, let's consider the God-Awful dirty surgical excisions of the part of the female hueman body called the 'Clitoris!' To ensure that 'their' (possessions) females don't enjoy sexual intercourse, there are entire societies which engage in the disastrous destruction of little girls' private parts in order to contain their behavior for the benefit of males. (My brain hurts even to have to write about this evil tradition) The rest of the world mistakenly stands by generally allowing this outrageous hueman behavior to continue because of misplaced 'respect of their traidition/culture!'

As if this were not enough deprivation of hueman beings, know that some countries (which shall remain namesless herein) not satisfied in binding the feet years ago of those hapless beings born female, now allow in certain areas girl babies to be killed or abandonned because God forbid a nation becomes more populated with females than males! (I think it's too late to worry about that one)

Then, we turn to the worldwide 'national sport' of female rapine which includes the bestial belief that if a male has sexual intercourse with females as young as two and three months, the males won't contract HIV-AIDS! How does one spell ' p-r-i-m-i-t-i-v-e?' (negative p-r-i-m-i-t-i-v-e!')

The obscenely high incidence of men, 'soldiers,' politicians, fathers, brothers, uncles, boyfriends, husband, any male, in the U.S.A., Sudan, England, The 'Democratic' Republic of Congo, Brazil, Canada, Peru, China, Japan anywhere, forcing part of his body, or gun or stick or anything else into the body of a female is untenable. This is so devastatingly happening so often in formerly (and still) colonized-by-european-countries that clinics and hospitals expressly-geared to restoring battered and torn female genitalia have to be run to try to repair (often by multiple surgeries!) the gross physical damage done to females of all ages and in the unbelievable thousands!

The worldwide psychological damage done to huemans who've been born female is inestimable; every time I see a TV chase and the female (inevitably!) trips up and fall, I cringe, knowing that this male-dominated partriarchy has struck another blow for maintaining female 'inferiority!'

Every time I see the male-dominated media photos and descriptions of "Mr. John Doe and his wife" (possession? - she has no name?!) I wanna' puke! Another blow for the domination of the female body!

And don't even begin to reflect on the GIANT RED HERRING the mostly-all (white) males Congress of the United States of America intermittently drag across the political stage of this nation - you know, the bogus-doesn't-belong-in-Congress-Debates-by-males about whether I as a female have the right to my own bodily self-determination! The Great and False Issue of 'abortion.' Give me a freakin break! There would be riots if Congress tried to legislate that males have to get permission to have circumcisions and/or tubal ligations! (Lorena Bobbitt, where are you? - Giving CLASSES, I hope!)

Those arrant hypocrites are the first to prate about 'freedom' and 'equality' of man - (and generally they really do mean only man!) And don't even get me dealing with those self-righteous Black 'Brothers' who would practicallykill for Black Liberation, but have the unmitigated gall to continuously put on programs without even one Black female on their damn platforms! They forget their own Mommas? I thank you profusely for providing me the opportunity to concretize my concept of being a Black African in the United States of America. It was a thought-provoking Air Forum and us listeners surely need more of the same.

May I offer these suggestions, in an effort to have some rational standards of usage about us Black Africans set:

Firstly, if we are to assume that a person born in a particular country/nation, that that person is considered a citizen (and-so-named) of that country, then those probably millions of Blackfolk living in the U.S.A. born in other countries who do not call themselves 'African Americans' are not, strictly speaking, 'American' either.

So the appellation, so incorrectly and euphemistically bestowed, of "African American," and gratuitously, epidemically-conferred upon Blackfolk in this country - is insultingly incorrect. Yes?

Secondly, that first assumption, 'born-there-named-that,' is conveniently suspended when one is led to understand that folk that claim ancestry in their nomenclature of relatives who weren't born in their own 'native' country might validly conclude that "all huemans are of African ancestry" and so then, all huemans are African. (Refer to Cheik Anta Diop, Dr. Ivan VanSertima and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing cogent writings on the African origin of civilization)

The resulting confusion in the thinking of the masses is perpetuated by the idiot colorist U.S.A. Census Board's divisions of the ONE hueman race into ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN so-called 'races.' YIKES!

Y'all at WBAI and President Barack Hussein Obama in addressing 'carte ebon' everyone who wears skins of observable melanin as a collective "African American," are, I'm sure, inadvertently excluding those worthy millions of Blackfolk who don't call themselves 'African Americans.'

There seems to be a disconnect between our youth and the slightly older population when it comes to remembering how this system handles black males and videos of them being brutalized and killed by the police. We need to be vetting (testing and treating) the decision-making (individuals)at every step of this process to ensure that the racist/colorist conditioning they received from this society doesn't cloud their judgement which, unfortunately, it often does under the current circumstances.
However, as it stands now, a racist/colorist justice system that says through its actions and rulings that the videotape of Rodney King did not show a human being being nearly beaten to death ("it was a threatening black man"); that 41 shots with 19 hitting Amadou Diallo is not excessive against someone who is not part of the human race ("it was a threatening black man'); 50 shots at Sean Bell is not excessive against someone who is not part of the human race ("it was a threatening black man")/ and the many, many more cases where the immediate victim was a black male, but the system's target are all black males, who, because they are "breathing while black" are threatening, we could pretty much write t he verdict that a jury, who has not been tested and treated for their racist/colorist conditioning, will come up with in this case.
It will be interesting to see what propaganda follows in the Oscar Grant murder by police in the weeks to come.

Untreated racism/colorism in America continues to be the cause of the violent deaths of people of color - mainly of Black males by the police. Most of those in the political, educational and social leadership in this country have toally missed recognizing and addressing the solution to the racism/colorism which is shredding the delicate fabric of the society. That solution is testing individuals for their R/CQ - Racism/Colorism Quotient, and thereafter, administering follow-up (Ethnotherapeutic) Counseling until those individuals can think straight!

Other programs, including enacting legislation, affirmative action, quota systems, forced integration, have failed because they have not shown the individual who is afflicted with the bias how to rid herself/himself of the disease: the "sensitivity" trainings, in police departments, focus on the wrong group instead of on the individual police themselves. If one is not part of the solution one is part of the problem.

Testing individuals for their R/CQ, the relative degree of racism/colorism within the individual, must become national policy in a multi-ethnic country. Just as we test for AIDS, we must begin testing for the disorder/disease of racism/colorism, in schools and at the workplace - testing and counseling, just as we test and counsel for alcoholism. For instance, Al Campanis, "Jimmy the Greek," John Rocker or Imus should not have been fired for their racist/colorist remarks. These white men are only products of their environment. If they had been alcoholics, it would have been against state law to fire them. They would have been tested and referred to counseling until they could think straight. The same procedure should have been used to treat their disease of racism/colorism.

How much more critical to our survival is it for judges, prosecutors, attorneys general, prospective jurors and especially police officers, to be tested for their respective racism/colorism levels? These public servants cannot deliver justice or make equitable decisions about people of color because they have also been conditioned by an institutionally racist/colorist society and not treated for their disorder.

It is way past time for people of color not to have to rely upon the the "luck" of drawing someone who is "not quite as racist/colorist" as the next racist/colorist to obtain justice! Today we people of color still have to hope that the whites (and self-hating Blacks!) making decisions about our very lives are not "too, too racist/colorist!"

We must not only demand permanent special prosecutors (R/CQ-tested) for racially (coloristically)-motivated crimes and violence, but we must also ensure that those individuals who are directly involved with the decisions governing our lives, livelihoods, our health and our education, be tested and counseled where necessary. If not, we'll always be knee-jerk reacting to individual acts of police terrorism, such as the recent murder of Patrick Dorismond and others too numerous to herein mention, and providing platforms for self-aggrandizing self-promoters and therefore not dealing realistically with and reforming the cause of the brutality - institutional racism/colorism.

We can look to the Constitution of the U.S.A. and, indeed, all the laws in the world for justice, but if the individuals who are supposed to uphold and enforce those laws are dysfunctionally racist/colorist, there is no way that people of color will ever be free of discrimination, 'racial'/color/profiling, violence or death on the basis of our skin color. We can take to the streets again and again, we can ask, beg, pray, wish, shout and scream as we have done for hundreds of years, but unless and until testing for the disease of racism/colorism is done, we will continue to be murdered in the streets of America because of the observable melanin in our skins. Martin Luther King said that racism is a sin unto death: it is also insanity.

One does not have to be a doomsayer to recognize the fact that we all will see spontaneous colorist conflagrations with levels of viciousness never before experienced in this country if we do not begin setting up widespread R/CQ Test Programs with Follow-up Ethnotherapeutic Counseling until individuals can think straight.

OH MI GOD - HE CAN'T...

DANCE!!! Did you see it? That Black man can't dance! This is a National Black Crisis!

You and I know - whitefolk can't dance either: they got no rhythm. I learned this living in the West Indies seeing them white 'tourisses' wagging their hips instead of they knees - trying to 'catch the moves!' Wasn't happening.

Y'understand that a terpsichorean ability is an absolute necessity for a Black man to be able to 'see with' his people's real gutbucket needs, so you see how important it is for President Barack Obama to 'do-quick' and get somebody to teach 'im how to boogie-down!

Watching him and the lovely white-gowned Michelle out on the dance floor at their first Inaugural Ball (first of ten they'd have to attend) was painful for me, she too, seemed ill-at-ease as he moved around in awkward whiteman fashion: I was shocked. Then I recalled this Black man's mostly-white* upbringing and understood some people's belief that Black children shouldn't be entirely/exclusively reared by white folk.
*that was 'mixed ethnicities' - not "mixed race" (there's only one hueman race, all you coloristically mixed-up mediafollk!)

Indeed, I clearly recall being brought up (white mother/Black father) in bland New England, but was rescued, thank the Creator in Her Grace) by my Jamaica, West Indies nursing school pal, Hyacinth, who not only taught me about pepper sauce, rice 'n' peas, curry and Calypsonian 'Sparrow,' but, most importantly, how to dance! - She'd say, "the action comes from the knees - not the hips - LightGirl!" (I'm what our forbears used to call - "high yellow" and was well on my way to dancing like I had a neurological disease) I owe her my - spicy - life.

Furthermore, I soon learned, in choosing a competent man as a partner, "If he can't dance - he can't prance!" In other words, if he's to be an all-rounder, a balanced 'in-the-know' desirable Black guy, he's gotta' be able to dance: that jerky, scarecrow-bobbing, jangly, Icabod-Crane-out-of-time cavorting which stands for white 'dancing' just wouldn't fly.

The inability to physically 'move with the music' reveals an almost indefinable emotional, intellectual, spiritual gap in the mind which prevents a man from really 'getting down with' us Blackfolk - and don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about - the Sisters and Brothers know exactly what I mean - but only a very few Blackfolk will talk openly about this phenomenon.

I say: "Quick! Get Brother Al Sharpton to teach Brother Barack how ta' dance!" (When he can 'be' with us - he'll be able to much better 'see' with us!)

Unacknowledged, Denied and Pandemic

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said: "Racism is a sin unto death."
James Baldwin said: "There was not then, nor is there now a single American institution which is not a racist institution."

Baldwin might've said, "a single worldwide institution." They certainly knew, instinctively, what they were talking about.

However, a more accurate term than the archaic "racism" is evolving to define the irrational practice of judging and treating a hueman being solely by the color of her/his skin; it is "colorism" precisely because there is only one hueman race. (I spell 'hueman' with an 'e' in recognition of the science-proven fact that within all huemans is retained some level/amount of melanin - some of us are just more or less 'rinsed out.'

It is of utmost and world wide importance that the psychological health of hueman beings is restored and maintained. Unfortunately, there is pandemic denial that colorism exists to a counterproductive degree and affects and victimizes huemans in every arena of people activity: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war. Guess What? How does one spell "C-o-u-n-t-e-r-p-r-o-d-u-c-t-i-v-e?" I just learned that the (mostly white) Congress of the United States of America is conspiring to shut down Black History Month! YIKES! Instead of incorporating Black History in schools at every level, thereby teaching all students who were their most distant ancestors/relatives and that "Black" history is world history, there we have a bunch of mis-educated (elected) genetic mutants leading the entire U.S.A. into lemming-like retrogressive thinking (it's called "Dumbing Down") OUCH!

We define such infestation, "colorism" - as the irrational "pathological response to differences in color and culture." That definition was coined by the intrepid Community Activist Sister Jean Wilkins Dember MHS (Master of Hueman Services)

Although we'd prefer to avoid labels, when such irrationality becomes continuous, it is labeled 'insanity,' is it not?

There is a basic universally-held feeling that unless you're masochistic no one wants to be a victim. Similarly, most huemans, if they're honest and recognize the 'bottom-socio-economic-rung position' of the world's Black and other people of color, definitely do not want to be 'of color.' (Ref. to the book "Two Nations: Separate, Unequal and Hostile," where students asked if they'd accept money to become white said they wouldn't take even one million dollars)

Blacks and other people of color who're trying to maintain dignity and pride in their Black African descendancy must of necessity at some stage in their development as adults of color, resolve the thorny issues of self identity and self worth and continually fight off not only external slings and arrows of colorism, but also the internal barbs of psychic destruction which occasionally gets past their unique defense barriers.

An instructive comparison allows for understanding this constant psychological, spiritual battle: someone raised female in this world is raised in mostly patriarchies which constantly 'put down' and attempt to control the female entity. As young girls attempting self determination in such a repressive milieu, for them to be able to even dress themselves in the morning is amazing. The repression, suppression,oppresiveness is overwhelming unfortunately, females evince submissiveness to overt and covert control in most societies, as untenable as this seems. Because some huemans are endowed with more estrogen than testosterone hormones, they are automatically relegated to second and third class citizenship. Every day, therefore, if by some social magic, some existential serendipity, a female manages to even partially escape the intellectual, pshychological, emotional, legal and physical predation as she ages, and is able to think clearly for herself, she must continually scrape off (and out) the destructive effects of being female in a (mostly) partriarchal world and seek reinforcement that she is a worthwhile entity.

The same intellectual, psychological, emotional, spiritual daily battles must be and are fought by Black and other people of color who are continually 'had at' by a colorist predatory world, and anyone who hasn't 'walked a mile' in such shoes-of-color (and of 'femaleness') cannot dictate how others do or should feel.

However, the 'myth of meritocracy,' the 'pulling up by one's own bootstraps' is forever flown inf the faces of those who dare challenge the massive denial extant in the U.S.A. and in other countries where there's mostly white-male-rule (and if they're not out there in the public eye, they're behind the scenes pulling the economic strings)

Doubt any of this and you're urged to go to the 13th Amendment of the Constitution of the U.S.A.; on December 13, 1865, the invidious regulation supposedly abolishing slavery was enacted - with the exception of jails. (my emphasis) People with observable melanin were routinely enslaved and the masses of inhabitants in this country allowed it! The vicious repercussions and remnants of this evil are alive and 'well' in today's societies. (Refer to Dr.
Joy DeGruy's 'Post Slavery Traumatic Disorder.')

However, pandemic denial of these dangerous social thorns persists. Despite the widely held belief that a person should not be held responsible or maltreated because of something over which she/he has no control (being born Black and/or of color) untreated colorism (racism) reigns, subverts, damages entire societies, causes invasions, wars, deaths and retrogressive administrations - a la the barbarian childkilling wallbuilding Israeli 'sitting-duck' attacks on hapless Palestinians - to engage in ethnic cleansing for hegemonic gains.

That untreated colorism causes degrading behavior not only by caucasians against people of color but, almost incredibly, causes those very people of color victims to practice a kind of 'color-striated' violence even against members of their own families of color such as;

- colorist advice from Black/of color parents for their children to choose 'lighter-skinned' partners;

- colorist practices of skin-bleaching not only in Black Africa but also Yellow China and other places;

- color-chosen members of entire bands of Carnival revelers in Trinidad/Tobago, West Indies;

-Black children choosing white dolls rather than dolls resembling their own color because "Black dolls are bad."

Then we have the mostly all-white (male) sunday morning TV anchors and commentators prating about "world" affairs (the three-quarters of color world) as though they're the only ones with worthwhile opinions. This is surely reflective of the malignant, counterproductive and relentless 'decisions-dictated-by-color' which pervade a world infected by what can only be called "The Color Sickness."

Suggestions For Serious Healing: A good start in erasing the pandemic denial would be for individuals and institutions (especially those 'kill-Black-males' law enforcement outfits and the nation's education systems) wishing to regain their credibility, rationality, sanity - to log on to Discussrace.com [to, as Law Professor Dr. Lani Guinier so presciently advises: "Discuss racism (she meant 'colorism') in public forums in order to put it on the front burner so as to be able to deal with it in a forthright manner"] - and to take and share the Racismtest.org.

And where pathological responses to differences in color and culture are revealed, those infected can opt (like any other addicts) to undergo Ethnotherapy Counseling until they can recover their ability to think straight. (and not be fired unless they refuse Ethnotherapeutic Couseling, Imus)

If you're thinking straight, you don't consider yourself better than others, you don't have to scapegoat anyone, you don't judge a book by its cover or huemans by their skin color, you're helping to make this ol' world a better place for your children.

(analagous to The Stockholm Sundrome; reflecting the continuous pathological interaction between victim and victimizer where even though the victimization occurred long ago, the pathological remnants of such sick interrelationships continue to affect the behavior of the victims who then foist such learned violent behavior upon others)

I suppose the only way that the intentional and widespread evil carnage of the Israelis against their purposefully-entrapped Palestinian targeted victims is to remember how killer sharks corral their terrified confused prey prior to slaughtering them.

A difference between killer sharks and the marauding Israelis might be that the sharks will eat their targeted prey, while the Israelis...

The seemingly-shell-shocked world stands immobilized watching in horror as hapless Palestinians are Israeli-rendered without electricity, fuel, food, medical care or hope of escaping the predetermined pogrom because they've been viciously entrapped without opportunity of escaping.

Hmmm - at this writing, 8th january, 2009, over 700 Palestinians've been killed; ten Israelis(of which 4 were killed by 'friendly' fire - they're so rabidly firing they're killing themselves). (Sounds kinda' like David & Goliath, doesn't it?)

While we understand that the Marquis of Queensberry Rules of War don't obtain in the one-sided Israeli onslaught, pandemic longstanding opprobrium against bullying should have long since caused the international community to pressure the Israelis to cease and desist from their tribal terrorism against other hueman beings. Or is it immobilizing fear of U.S.A. reprisals that prevents other nations from forthrightly intervening to weigh against the Israeli atrocities?

For concerned individuals who wish to understand Israeli motivations, it would be instructive to recall that over a year ago, Israeli leaders removed, sometimes by pure force, all Israeli settlers from Gaza. Now we realize that this was a part of their devilish plans for the total extermination and removal of non-Israelis from what they fondly call the land of "God's Chosen People!"

We're painfully aware of the total hypocrisy in the Israeli claims of 'kindly actions' in their drop-in-the-bucket establishment of a 3-hour 'humanitarian corridor' to allow medical and food aid to the entrapped Gaza inhabitants. How nice; they bomb the bejeezus out of helpless Palestinian people and then in a bizarre and insulting travesty, offer a totally inadequate bandaid-on-misery to folk they obviously intend to erase from the face of the earth so that they can fulfill a 'scorched-earth-policy' which began with the U.S.A.GANG's illegal gift of an 'Israeli Homeland' in 1948!

In the U.S.A.-sanctioned Israeli hegemonic harassment of the Palestinians, we see their obvious intentions to completely raze Gaza of its non-Israeli men, women and children. (Machiavelli lives)

The blood-and-land-lusting, wall-building, Israeli child-killers, immorally backed by a weapons-supplying evil empire U.S.A. Administration, are being allowed to visit their modern day holocaust in the patently false guise of chasing Hamas guerillas. But the Emperor has no clothes: Israel is the rampaging guilty gorilla in this entire mess and the rest of the world is complicit in the carnage unless it steps in immediately to reign in the rampagers!

An instructive example of that 'stepping in' is the powerful Turkish Anti-Israeli demonstration at a recent soccer game (described by able sportswriter Dave Zirin). This action is what is urgently needed to register valid opprobrium to outrageous inhuemane behavior no matter where it occurs.

The Israeli Prime Minister has unfortunately led his squatters one harrowing step beyond the Stockholm Syndrome, into an untenable and acting-out Berlin Syndrome. He needs to understand that the world cannot and should not tolerate such imposed bloody mayhem.

First off, face it: there are no such entities as 'different races.' At the risk of being trite and repetitive because we've heard this sentence time and time again: "There's only one hueman race."

Does the phrase 'people of different races' perpetuate negativity especially against people of color? Yes, of course it does. If - as do color-bigots - one subscribes to the falsity of 'inferior' or 'superior' 'races.' (Ref. Dr. Pegggy MacIntosh "Paper 189" - on seeing correlations between white male privilege and color privilege; Wellesley College)

Harrowingly, in spite of ample evidence, many people of otherwise goodwill, including academicians who should know better, insist on obdurately cleaving to patently incorrect phraseology claiming "it's traditional!" as though maintaining 'tradition' in this case doesn't fly in the face of history and logic.

Remarkably, accompanying the too-often arrogant refusal to budge off their euphemizing is a range of untoward reactions which go anywhere from mild irritation to outright self-righteous anger. To point out to some folk that their language usage regarding people of color is counterproductive, antiquated, out of touch and downright incorrect, is to court their readily-expressed opporobrium and disdain.

Try it: just dare to inform someone - even diplomatically, (and in their interest) that they're utilizing inept, incorrect language to describe Black people and/or groups of Blacks - and be sure to dodge!

Whether the anger springs automatically from the thorniness of the prickly issue of color, or whether people feel that they're being tangentially accused of being racist/colorist, the ire is unmistakenly there and those thusly approached about their use of the terms like 'race,' 'races' and 'people of different races' reflexively 'get their dander up.' Why?

In fact, so frequent have we experienced these negative emotional reactions by people holding themselves out as integral members of the 'intelligentia,' that those of us heavily into the continuing fight for color equity have begun to call for 'Semantics Forums on Black Power-Parlance!'

For so-called 'leaders' in the various arenas of people activity, especially including academia and media, to continue with their inaccurate and lame-defense mis-use of the English language constitutes a kind of 'sleeping/giving-undeserved-comfort-to-the-enemy;' - and the 'enemy' is the untreated colorism which so undermines society's progress and causes so much havoc to so many hueman beings.

It is the devious, insane, hegemonic intention of 'wasichu' (Indigenous for "whitey" - males) to achieve and maintain total direct-control over Black males (and people of color generally) because, in their deepest and most mal-educated psyches dwells the irrational fear of genetic 'annihilation.' (Ref: The Isis Papers by Dr. Frances Cress Welsing) (Didn't you hear 'Boobus Americanus' white male on TV the other day shouting: "...what would you do if your race wuz dyin' out?")

After all, they were by and large never taught (and still aren't) that their true most distant ancestors were the Black African originators of civilization, so there they are practicing attempted genocide on their own relatives. If this isn't arrant psychopathology - tell me what is.

Lest anyone harbor any doubt about those nefarious white male intentions, let them learn about/study the depressive, oppressive, repressive and suppressive continuing manic behavior of those eurocentric Bilderbergers, Rothchilds, Trilateral Commission-folk, Center for Foreign Relations-people, Rockefellers, Skulls & Boners and Freemasons, et al. among too many others to herein list, and their vicious interrelations with the governing entities (including the military forces) of this world.

Their tentacled involvement in every arena of people activity - economics, entertainment, education, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war - is invasive and controlling. Especially is this so in their oppressive investment in the erecting and maintaining of prisons aptly called 'the prison industrial complex,' 'industrial' - the incarceration-for-profit of two million plus hueman (my 'e') beings is a major part - ugly as it is - of this capitalist society - this "Capitalocracy," surely no "Democracy" ever. A Jamaican Brother said to me years ago on a subway train, "...it's a 'Dey-mock-us-you-see! It's not a Democracy!" And I'll add, "It's a Demonocracy!"- making their dirty monies on Black bodies as surely as they did during 'legal'-slavery days.

Over half of those in jail-bondage in the good ol' U.S.A. are people of color, mostly Black males carrying out slave duties for slave -or no- wages, and too many of them have been railroaded into those jail cells primarily because they didn't have the necessary finances to hire competent Black attorneys who really know what it means to be Black and male in the hells of North, South, East and West America.

But, surely, once one can be made to understand the insanity of wasichu - never mind for a moment the wide ranging complicity of those calling themselves "white males," one can and should decide, like incarcerated for twenty-six years on Death Row - Brother Mumia Abu-Jamal has done, "They may be able to confine my Black body, but never my Black mind!" - not to allow wasichu to entrap her/himself with the usual 'entrappings:' - alcohol and other drugs or ignorance of wasichu's base intentions. It 'be's' heavy eluding 'The Man's' octopus clutches, yeah, but if the brain's not in chains, BlackFolk can study, learn and ORGANIZE to LIBERATE our people!

The first step is to learn what the Beast has and is doing to try to keep his hegemonic control of us. (Brother Malcom X read and re-read the dictionary - we BlackFolk have to put an end to eschewing reading and dicounting the importance of the written word) as we still retain our 'griot' communicating by word of 'grapevine' mouth!

You wish! Well, wishing instead of walking never got anything. Perhaps you should read (and re-read) what the late Guyanese intellectual Walter Rodney said:

"Black* Power is a doctrine about Black people, for Black people, preached by Black people. I'm putting it to my Black brothers and sisters that the color of our skins is the most fundamental thing about us. I could have chosen to talk about people of the same island, or the same religion, or the same class - but instead I have chosen skin color as essentially the most binding factor in our world. In so doing, I am not saying that is the way things ought to be. I am simply recognizing the real world - that is the way things are. Under different circumstances, it would have been nice to be color blind, to choose my friends solely because their social interests coincided with mine - but no conscious Black man can allow himself such luxuries in the contemporary world."

Now, if doesn't bring reality to your thinking, recognize what's occuring on the streets of this country; four (and God only knows how many more that I haven't heard of) males of color who've lost their lives were: Billey Joe Johnson, 17 year old high school athletic scholarship winner - said by cops to've 'shotgunned himself to death' after being stopped for an alleged traffic violation in Mississippi; Alex Figueroa, a father in the Bronx, N.Y. shot to death for allegedly wielding a baseball bat (which his wife tearfully denied he had on a local TV newscast); the Black male in Jasper, Texas, (the second one) dragged to his death by a truck (rarely reported by the white male-dominated 'mainstream media') and Gilbert Blanco, a man of color, shot to death in Coney Island, N.Y. by a trigger-happy NYPD cop for waving a chair at her.

One of the officers of the Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, Inc, in New York City, recently commented that the color-bigots are so irate at even the thought of a Black man in the White House that their disease of untreated racism/colorism spurs them to illegal acts of violence against unsuspecting Blackfolk.

Where are the psychiatrists and psychologists in this country who should be issuing public statements condemning such anti-social colorist acts? Where are the 'always-ready-at-the-mouth' politicians and preachers who should be issuing collective public statements about this burgeoning critical example of the society's rotten 'achilles heel?'

Perhaps they're waiting for widespread rioting - a la France's recent upheavals.

No people in the world other than us people of color have been called so many names - none! Check it out. We've been called: niggahs, night-fighters, niggroes, niggers, negroes, nigras, octoroons, maroons, quadroons, spooks, cottonpickers, tar-babies, darkies, blackies, cafe- olays, ink spots, coons, spades, spicks, (that's for those of us who speak Spanish but refuse to acknowledge our Black heritage), jungle-bunnies, chocolate drops, blacks, coloreds, colored people, kaffirs, monkeys, gorillas, apes, (which it is more likely white* people came closer to: have you ever seen a monkey with thick lips or kinky hair?), bucks, pickaninnies, Afro-Americans, African-Americans, dinges, wogs, forgive me if I've forgotten any - I'm only human (yeah!). Of course, the most ridiculous name is "minorities," which evidently encompasses anyone who is not white! I say 'ridiculous' because everyone who is not white really belongs to the "majority!"

Ever since I was sensible as a youngster, I have had great difficulty with identity. White (so-called) people don't have that particular difficulty, until recently, that is. Now there are some white males running around the country yelping about "reverse racism." Of course there's no such animal: racism is racism.

Anyhow, I also went through that pathological stage of calling myself "bi-racial," - there's also no such thing because there's only one race, the human one. Denunciation also goes for those idiot terms "interracial," "mixed race," "intra-racial," and any other term which sows divisiveness within the human family.

The ultimate divisiveness is murder, and what I am dealing with here and now is an issue which might seem almost frivolous at first, until one realizes that the start of friction amongst us is name-calling! Sticks and stones do break bones and names can indeed hurt us when followed up by violence!

I have decided - after all these painful years of misidentification and confusion, not to mention Eurocentric miseducation - I have decided to call myself "Black African," and you cannot imagine how much controversy this has caused among others, no matter what they call themselves! I'm going to explain what the historical basis for my fairly new appellation is. Follow me closely now: the first people on this planet were Black - you know, most melaninized, no question, as dark as human beings can be, black, Black, blue Black, lovely charcoal Black!

If you cannot admit this because your education has, on purpose, been limited to Eurocentric experience and you haven't read Lucy: The Beginnings of Mankind by Donald Johnson and Maitland Edey, The African Origin of Civilization by Cheik Anta Diop, writings by Dr. Henrik Clarke, Dr. Ben Jochanan and Dr. Leonard Jeffries and especially The Isis Papers by Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. If you cannot accept that the first human beings on earth were crystal Black, then the extent of your denial is complete and you will continue to live in abject fear.

Dr. Leonard Jeffries, in The African Americans: Search for Truth and Knowledge, states, "The search for truth and the pursuit of knowledge should be broad-based and not limited to white European-American ethnic group experience."

So the first step in understanding why I call myself a Black African is to understand that all humanity began as Black. Then, as Dr. Welsing makes clear, the Black people somehow began at certain intervals to give birth to individuals who had no pigment - albinos as Dr. Booker T. Coleman (now Professor Kaba Hiawatha Kamene) the renowned Historian puts it: "...they can teach about the lack of carbon in animals and plants but not acknowledge that the same thing happens with humans. When the lack of carbon-melanin occurs in humans, it's called European!"

There is controversy about reasons why, but albinos (unmelaninized) eventually moved to cold climes, I suppose partially because they couldn't withstand the sun (kinky hair and melanin protect us against the sun's rays, kiddies!). There they continued to interbreed, produce blue eyes and straight hair, proclaim themselves "superior" and run around the world telling people of color that whites were the world's masters. So it was because of geographically varying climates that people with differing physical traits came to be - but the critical issue to understand is that these differing traits do not prevent people from being human! All a' we is one! All'a we is African!

Indeed, there are Red Africans, Yellow Africans, Brown Africans, white Africans, and since I admit to being political and have adopted the 60's ideology of Black Power, I am a Black African!

Lemme share with you what it really means to be Brown-in-America. You 'get it' from at least two directions - first from sicko whites who were egregiously mis-educated by a eurocentric intransigeant 'education' (read 'conditioning') sysdumb which purposefully and stubbornly refuses to teach their multi-colored students the truth about their hueman origins (Black in Black Africa).

Second, we 'Brownies' 'get it' from other people of color too: those lighter-skinned ones adopt whitey's sick anti-color attitudes and behavior toward people of color. The darker-skinned individuals automatically feel that "them Brown & high-yallers think they're better'n' me!"

Then we have to put up with the racist/colorists who speak of color discrimination only in terms of 'Black and white,' throughly relegating millions of Red, Yellow, Tan, Olive and us Browns to society's dung heap by such routine exclusions.

As a result of my own life-long pursuit of a soul-comforting identification made difficult as a result of this double-digit degradation, I've coined an accurate definition of the disease people usually and mistakenly call racism: it is the word "colorism." Because, the actual divisive, contentious, thorny and pandemic issue in societies has been and still is color.

However, almost every hueman being on this color-riven planet, no matter what country they're in, is rendered acutely uncomfortable whenever the subject of racism/colorism is raised. Some of them are quick to retort, "Oh, that's a terrible thing but I'm not racist!" (too few folk actually use the accurate term 'colorist') - some even have 'Black' friends, wives,/husbands, teachers, school/workmates and WOW! -parents!

However, these relatedness situations don't insure against their harboring colorist stereotypical thoughts, what could be called crooked/illogical thinking, because the negative discriminatory eurocentric societal conditioning has done its dirty mental/emotional damage usually by the beginning of the teenage years - horrors - even before then.

When one faces such worldwide retrograde colorist child abuse - yes, that's exactly what racist/colorist mis-education is - pandemic epidemic child abuse. And even the most courageous folk feel overwhelmed by the enormity of of the problem. They ask, what possibly can be done by people of good will to re-educate the misled masses and turn back the seeming tide of subsequently escalating colorist violence against 'Brownies' (Muslims, Hispanics, people of color) especially in these 'Post-Obama-Win" times?

Well, concerned folk must, ASAP, deal with the retrogressive colorist language usage with which announcers, anchorfolk, academics from all walks of life swamp an already mostly-soporific listenership. It's 'race' this and 'races' that up the wazoo and mistakenly meant to refer to issues and people of color; this is inaccurate and downright plain dirty-wrong.

The above issues, of course, are only some of the burdens BrownFolk have to bear. It'll be so refreshing to finally get an answer to the plaintive question:

"WHEN DOES BROWN BEGIN?"

I suppose it'll be when we have worldwide involvement with www.Discussrace.com and www.racismtest.org and where pathological reponses to differences in color and culture are determined, refer the dysfunctional victims to Ethnotherapeutic Psychological/Psychiatric Counseling until they can think straight. And the testing should be mandatory, like testing for any other addiction.

for Saving Our Sons

Most white women in the United States of America thinking about bearing a child might hope for and look forward to having baby boys:
most Black women, at the thought of having a male child, pause and wonder whether they should bring a Black male into sure jeopardy.

Black males in America (North, South, East and West) merely by being Black and male, incredibly, face daily extinction: I'm talking physical extinction (never mind the heavy psychological stresses of breathing-while-Black) by police individuals who don't even know - haven't been taught(on purpose) - formally or informally - who they-themselves are and/or to whom they are related by blood (Black Africans in Black Africa).

The distinctly disproportionate and escalating number of cop-killed Black males 'dying-by-cop' is utterly appalling, but almost as appalling is the apathetic reaction of the public, too many of which, upon hearing of another Black male killed by cops, ignorantly pose the question - "What did he (the Black male) do? indicating an odious, slavish thinking that says, 'there must have been a good reason;' for the cops to've shot/killed the Black male. (What 'reason' did the cop in Coney Island, N.Y. have for shooting to death a man of color as he waved a chair around?) [Perhaps she'd been reading the 'Federal Violence Inititative,' which contains, says Dr. Peter Breggin of the Center for the Study of Psychiatry, Inc. - "Explicit racism is embodied in the #1 key research questions raised in the study: Do males or Black persons have a higher potential for violence than others and, if so, why?"] ('Black' includes Spanish-speaking Black males - cops don't ask about ethnicity before they shoot - they see only Black skin - as the cop-murderer of young Black Randy Evans had the nerve to utter: "I only saw the color of his skin!")

Again and again, as the inexorable slaughter of Black males by uniformed 'servants of the public' continues, the servile acceptance of such colorist bloody carnage seems to rise exponentially, especially in these 'Post-Obama-Win-times.' When I heard, some years ago, a young Black woman say, "I don't want to have a son in this country," I was awe struck, not only that she would say this aloud, but that she said it to a complete stranger. And I wondered at that time, if this was a common sentiment among Black women in the U.S.A.

To my utter dismay, as I've asked other Black women's opinions about Black male jeopardy, I've discovered a commonly-held abject fear on the part of Black females about the ever-present potential of their 'losing-a-Black-male-child-by-cop!'

That fear, for Black mothers (and Fathers and guardians) is a palpable one and it is a life-long heavy stress in and of itself, although it's coupled with other myriad stresses born by folk wearing skins of observable melanin. A sort of 'Color-Sword of Damocles.' It is one that most people do not like to talk about even though it is uppermost in their minds the moment their Black sons step onto the mean streets.. wondering whether their son (s) will be returning that day alive and well; wondering whether he'll be able to 'get through' a confrontation with any police; wondering whether he'll be able to withstand the too-numerous baiting-by-cops and keep his temper; wondering whether he'll remember your warning to "Lose the battle but win the war;" wondering whether you adequately-described the 'Prison Industrial Complex' booming-business of Black body-snatching built on stopping, frisking, beating, arresting and incarcerating Black males (neo-slavery- see 13th Amendment to the U.SA. Constitution).

And when he's told- at a pitifully young age - that a Black male walking along the street is dangerously 'running the gauntlet' of a racist/colorist society, is this unnecessary fear-mongering on the part of overly-protective parents - or is it just 'a basic protective mode?' And why should black mothers (fathers, guardians) have to scare the sh--(scatology) out of their Black sons to try to keep them alive in a country which has just elected a Black male President?

But we do. We do. Somebody(ies) out there should build a strong organization of
"Black African Mothers-4-Saving-Our-Sons." - 'BAM-4-SOS' - somebody(ies) fairly young, with mucho energy and compassion for the millions of Black parents in valid fear for the lives of their Black sons in this color-riven country!

No, don't say, "Well why don't you start it?" I am up to my ears with over-twenty-years of anti-racism/colorism work with our 'Institute for "Interracial" Harmony, Inccorporated, www.racismtest.org - www.discussrace.com and the decades of effort with The Little Black Book:Black Male Survival in America: Staying Alive & Well in an Institutionally RACIST Society. Let's, for the sake of veracity, end the deplorable euphemism rampant in this society in which public figures and mainstream media folk continuously wallow. If they mean "Black," why not say "Black?" Instead, it's "African American" this and "African American" that, ad nauseam and nauseam.
Question: What would one call a Black U.S.A. resident who as born in England? It's just not good enough to put all Blacks into a 'catch-all' category of "African American." ('These people all look alike') Not only is this blatantly arrogant in the extreme but pejorative and insulting in its neglect of respecting the beautiful variety of people of color.
Sticks and stones and batons and guns routinely hurt and kill people of color (Eamon Morales, Long Island, N.Y.) and names based on racist/colorist inaccurate delineations and ignorance also hurt people of color.
Take serious note of the wholly mistaken, senseless name-calling by the U.S.A. Census Board as it attempts to divide the one hueman race into 117 'races!' This is surely one dire consequence of a racist/colorist miseducation system in a society which obdurately and dangerously refuses to teach the truth about the Black African origin of huemanity. Hence the sad state of its students when it comes to their mental health as it relates not only to their knowledge of self but also to their understanding of and behavior toward people who wear skins of observable melanin.
Suggested Solution: would be for everyone to learn and acknowledge in public forums who has the sovereign right to name themselves; however, the critical issues of identity and ethnicity in this country are arrogantly and arbitrarily based on observations of skin color by folk who've been purposefully mis-educated about even their own origins, the 'namers' (usually white-privileged supremacist males) stubbornly ignore those national origins and 'clamp on' their own signifying nomenclature based on their self-serving observations of skin pigmentation.
And "African" to them is supposedly always a pejorative "Black."
Finally, using "African American" and "Black" interchangeably as too many people do (especially academicians of all colors), is obfuscatory and in no way mitigates the inaccurate use of the phrase "African American." This practice merely illustrates the confusion brought about by colorist conditioning and undergirds the severity of the need for a major overhauling of colorist language usage. "Truth crushed to earth will rise again; noose appearances (and actual deaths of people of color in these 'post-Obama-
Win' days) are on the rise, unfortunately, despite the fact that all huemans are "of Black African ancestry."
Question: Does everyone in the U.S.A. have to be struck blind before we as a nation begin to treat individuals by the content of their character rather than the color of their skins?

(With Follow-up Ethnotherapeutic Psychological Counseling when pathological dysfunctional responses to differences in color and/or culture are uncovered - especially in those 'killers-of-Black-males-cops! Don't you just love the idea of 'a sleeping giant?' I do. Maybe such appeal comes from remembrances of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Gulliver's Travels."

Anyway, the emerging and escalating belief in Black communities that Blackfolk - woefully unorganized - are collectively 'a sleeping giant,' has been, ironically, fueled by the white male-dominated media coverage of Barack Obama's energetic and well-run campaigning for the Presidency of the United States of America.

(I also love the concept of 'Karma;' 'What goes around comes around' and 'Nature abhors a vacuum')

Psychologists have long utilized certain words to measure association capabilities of their patients: "Yin-yang," "big-small," "sad-happy," "rich-poor," "tall-short" and "Black-white." (Of course huemans do come in other colors)

However, as this country, from slavery days, has evolved into a majority-white 'us' and a minority Black (and others of color) 'them,' anyone studying social movements must take into serious consideration the nature of jusxtapositional ideaologies; if there is a generalized conept of "whiteness," then there is a consequent corollary of "Blackness" in people's minds. Hence the idea of judging a person by the color of her/his skin; the fact that this practice is unhealthy, illogical and unfair doesn't alter its reality.

One of the eminent anti-colorist Tim Wise's favorite juxtapositions is 'privileged underprivileged.' And more and more public speakers in the U.S.A. are parotting the phrase "white privilege," so it isn't a great leap of consciousness to envision "Black underprivilege." Consquently, if there is a 'philosophy of 'whiteness (the sum of the ideas and convictions of an individual or group), there is evidently a contrapuntal (associational) 'philosophy of Blackness.' (Not that I believe that 'whiteness' should be the 'norm' for every comparison either!) (Possibly 'philosophies of Red, Yellow, Brown, Olive and Tan' will follow)

But what does it mean to be Black in America? (U.S.A.) And if one subscribes to the nomenclature "Black," does one automatically pursue a 'Black philosophy?' And how does such a follower resolve the emotional/psychological dichotomy-of-identification about which W.E. du Bois and Frederick Douglass and many others talked so many years ago? (WABC TV "Nightline's Ted Koppel to Jesse Jackson: "Are you a Black man or an American?"

Additionally, a major contribution to the widespread concept of 'Blackness' as an entity is the usage of the word 'race,' to indicate color, or more usually, 'Black.' And isn't this usage based on a bogus unscientific construct of 'different races' (instead of the accurate one hueman race) along with the mistaken notion that Black,' 'Yellow,' 'Red,' 'Brown' and 'Olive' people are separate and inferior 'races?' Unfortunately academicians in the U.S.A. stubbornly perpetuate untreated racism/colorism by doggedly repeating - 'follow-fashion' - the inaccurate word 'races,' ad infinitum and nauseam, when there is no 's' on the word 'race' when it comes to hueman beings!

White and Black pollsters traditionally looking at Blacks as an economic entity, say that Black consumers spend over $600 Billion a year and that Blacks and other people of color are about to put Black Barack Obama into the White House as President of the United States of America; isn't it way past time for Blacks (and others) to admit that 'the sleeping giant' is waking and that there is such an entity as 'A Black Philosophy?' And shouldn't that admission involve fast-track adoption of utilizing www.discussrace.com and www.racismtest.org programs to flush away heretofore untreated racism/colorism from a society pretending to be progressive? How long are people of color prepared to be treated as second-class huemans, stopped, frisked, beaten, disrespected, jailed and killed merely because we wear skins of observable melanin? How Sick is America?

In the Ocean Way area in Jacksonville, Florida, thousands of children were kept from attending their schools on and about Nov. 4th (Elections) because the parents feared that the 'authorities' couldn't or wouldn't give the children adequate protection form colorist harassment.
Other school children in the South just wanted to share in their parents' celebrations of President-Elect Barack Obama's victory, but the bus driver told them that if they even said his name, she'd write them up and take them to the Principal's office. In another equally incredible outrageous colorist situation, students were threatened with suspension if they uttered Obama's name or dared to wear their Obama t-shirts (interestingly enough, no such ban was in force against students wearing McCain t-shirts!

One school Administrator was heard saying, "This is the way it is; this is the South; they'll have to put up with it." Oh, Yeah?

Aside from obvious First Amendment Freedom of Speech outright violations, these events were sure to stifle the very psyches of these youngsters; on the one hand they're taught to revere what their teachers describe as the 'United States of America democratic process,' the 'liberating spirit of the Founding Fathers' and perform flag-waving pledges of allegiance, but in diametric opposition, they're being faced with blatant repression of their individual rights. I sure hope the ACLU steps in and teaches those denizens perpetrating such outrages a severe lesson.

Unfortunately, these youngsters are not alone in their 2008 colorist deprivation, 'up South,' here in the 'liberal' North, in racist/colorist Long Island, seven young green-behind-the-ears miseducated-by-an-institutionally-racist/colorist-society- males, acting out that sick societal colorist conditioning, actually murdered a male hueman being because he was - they mistakenly thought, a Mexican! There are equally ignorant and bigoted individuals who, upon seeing one obviously-Black youngster in the line-up of wilding alleged killers, will predictably say that the attack couldn't be racist(colorist) because "one of them was Black!" (as though Blackfolk aren't hueman enough to be similarly negatively conditioned by a racist/colorist society!) They are every single one of them in need of: www.racismtest.org/www.discussrace.com involvement to determine and help heal their dysfunctional levels of pathological responses to differences in color and culture!

For the uninformed, facing the abysmal fact that, here in the year 2008, huemans (my 'e') can lose their lives because of what they look like, has to be explained as the wake up call it is - a wake up call for this entire society - and the rest of the (majority people of color) world, to honestly deal with untreated racism/colorism in a forthright manner.

What is direly needed is another World Conference on Racism (Colorism), this time, the U.S.A. should not be allowed to refrain from active participation.

It is no wonder - or mistake - that escalating reports of colorist violence, escalating frenzied discussion of racism/colorism, escalating public awareness of the issues of untreated colorism are popping up like virulent outbreaks of poison ivy. Such tensions will continue to plague societies which neglect the untreated colorism that has been simmering for decades. The truth will out.

As more and more victims - our grossly miseducated masses - begin to realize that all huemans are 'of Black African ancestry,' their society-instilled colorism will cause them fear, frustration and anger and to 'act out, psychologists say, against those individuals who wear skins of observable melanin. (Members of the nation's police forces have been and are similarly 'acting out' their colorist aggression daily as they continue in racist/colorist orgiastic fervor, frisking, beating, sodomizing and slaughtering Black male inhabitants with relative impunity)

Post Obama Election-Fear of 'Genetic Annihilation?'

Even before Barback Obama won the presidential election, public chatchat about 'race' has certainly escalated. (that inaccurate word 'race' erroneously bruited about ad nauseam) . But the reality of a world 'color' order is not new.

At one time Blackfolk did rule; 'civilization' was started and ruled by Blacks in Africa, the cradle of civilization. However, eurocentric purposeful miseducation systems prefer to perpetuate the Great White Male Lie that 'civilization' began only in Europe; repercussions of that monumental and current fabrication continue to victimize the masses of earth's inhabitants.

The resulting untreated racism/colorism has and is costing not only billions of dollars which should be used instead to enhance hueman lives but is, sadly, causing thousands of folk of all colors to lose their lives.

Walter Rodney's How Europe (white) Underdeveloped Africa (Black) is certainly an apt description of the horrendous colonization (rape) of countries of color - indeed continents of color. South Africa, Zimbabwe, The Democratic Republic of Congo and others are illustrative of the continuing negative colonial influences extant right up to this very moment: indeed, between 1898 and 1934, the U.S.A. marines invaded Cuba four times, Nicaragua five times, Honduras seven times, the Dominican Republic four times, Haiti two times, Guatemala once, Panama two times, Mexico three times and Columbia four times. Washington, D.C. has intervened militarily in foreign countries more than two hundred times - and those countries are countries of color.

The nefarious, hegemonic predation of the U.S.A., color-biased as it is, reveals a racist/colorist foreign policy itself. The pandemic nature of what we call 'untreated racism/colorism' is nearly overwhelming, but regardless of the enormity of the 'color issue,' the fact remains that the longstanding struggle against colorism and for equity and liberation from skin color bias must be intensified - continually brought before the public - continually discussed and put into proper context, in spite of having a Black man in the White House.

The foundation for that valid contextualization must be the truthcentric challenging of the Great While Male Lie that "civilization began in Europe." If, as Psychiatrist Dr. Frances Cress Welsing says, wite males, upon perceiving 'Blackness,' automatically see what they feel are indications of their own genetic annihilation, then the necessity for their re-education and re-conditioning must take place as soon as possible. This is a very serious widespread situation which, of course, the election of a Black Obama seems to have exacerbated.

Especially do the multi-colored children of the world need to know the truth - need to know about their most distant ancestors/relatives/family members: Black Africans in Black Africa.*

Dear Commissioner Kelly:
Re: Victims Piggott & Morales

We've heard compassion only for Lt. Piggott and his family - even from those who've been put upon by NYPD excesses. However, anyone with even a fleeting knowledge of psychology understands that the taser-caused death of the mentally-challenged Eamon Morales provided merely a 'straw that broke the camel's back' incentive for the Lt.'s suicide. There must have been an escalating series of untenable stresses in that officer's life, not the least of which were occupation-connected.
So that both of these hapless victims have not perished completely in vain, surely instead of wrongly focusing on supposed trouble with the public: 1. The NYPD can adopt an ongoing practice of giving annual psychological work-ups to its employees who have myriad work-related stresses with which they must deal and 2. The NYPD can include ongoing programming with follow-up psychological/psychiatric counseling wherever pathological officer responses to differences in color and/or culture are uncovered. This remediation should be provided for all NYPD employees including individuals in Administration.
As matters stand now, both NYPD folk - this means everyone - and the public, especially persons of color, are the victims of a society wherein the education systems have and are miseducating the masses by neglecting to teach the truth to their students about their most distant relatives - the Black African ancestors of all huemans. All huemans are 'of Black African descent.'
To far too many people, this truthcentricity may not seem important, but this omission leads to artificial barriers in the perceptions of police persons which, on the occasion of split-second life and death decisions, causes members of the public to unnecessarily lose their very lives. These artificial barriers also cause unnecessary stress for the police, who, as a result of such untreated colorism, are surely victims too.
As such heretofore neglected matters stand now, inhabitants in N..Y.C. live each day cringing under the colorist proverbial 'Sword of Damocles,' many understanding that police officers and members of the public, both victims - unless #1 and #2 items aforementioned are incorporated by the NYPD - will evolve into more 'Eamon Morales' and 'Lt. Piggott' tragedies.
For the NYPD to incorporate remedial treatment for the institutionally colorist conditioning to which we have all, repeat all, been subjected, would constitute no indication of weakness; to the contrary, it would reflect an admirable strength of character and would certainly reduce the unrelenting stress on your officers and also reduce the relentless and unnecessary deaths of so many of this city's inhabitants.
Finally, the fact that it's mostly Catholic cops who've been responsible for the killings of mostly Black males hereabouts (including Spanish-speaking ones) may not be welcome information or even attributable directly to their being Catholic, but these facts must be faced in a forthright manner if the NYPD is to be viewed as a truthcentric and credible interactive entity. The public's trust in the NYPD must be restored.
In fact, we'd like to see the NYPD restored to the time when the cop on the corner was looked upon as a friend - not as a foe -; but for that to happen the #1 and #2 suggestions have to be implemented - the sooner the better.
Who was it who said, "The saddest part of being hueman (my 'e') is the depth of our ignorance?" And it is killing ignorance not to know and be able to acknowledge who were all of huemanity's most distant ancestors!

R.I.P. Eamon Morales and Lt. Piggott.

THE MASS INSANITY OF COLORISM –
Can we end it?

It’s now late 2008; I just heard a news blurb on radio WQXR in New York City: it said that Senator Barack Obama faces a major obstacle in his race for the presidency – a recent poll reveals that ‘40% of whites harbor negative views of Blacks.’

Aside from a pall settling over my mind which echoed “So what else is new?” – I felt a surge of irritation and frustration at this reminder of the country’s insane epidemic of untreated racism/colorism .

As the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. so poignantly described it, “…judged by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin…” should be our modus operandi but, time after time, in all of its malevolence, what do we people of color experience n every arena of people activity? – overt and covert untreated racism - (we at www.racismtest.org more accurately call it colorism).

Oh dear, where does all of this come from? Well, one analytic look at the (mis) Education system hereabouts reveals that they’re still teaching eurocentric history – ‘the cradle of civilization was in Europe – Greece,’ instead of Black Africa – and failing to teach its students who their true ancestors were: Black folk in Black Africa. (All huemans are ‘of Black African descent!) And yet the system disingenuously claims to be ‘truthcentric!’ (term coined by the eminent Black Guyanese Historian, Professor Ivan Van Sertima)

In the face of such mass (mis)education and its denigration- (hate that word)-of-Blackness-by-omission, I suppose that the resultant crass ignorance, of people having been thusly conditioned by the machinations and manipulations of the wider society whose perpetrators have also gone through the same (mis)education system, there is hardly a way for the victims - us all – to escape being thoroughly infected by that untreated racism/colorism disorder.

It actually cuts right through the intellect too; some of the mot otherwise intelligent individuals in the country show – often inadvertently – their color bias.

So the revelation that 40 per cent of whites harbor negative views of Blacks is most likely a gross understatement of the ‘color status quo in the good ole’ United States of America!’

Moreover, it is my glum opinion that if Senator Barack Obama , as ‘articulate,’ ‘clean,’ ‘brilliant,’ ‘talented’ and ‘savvy’ as he is, does somehow manage to win the presidency, it’ll be a complete surprise to me. But miracles do sometimes happen.

I truly believe that treating the disease of racism/colorism has already begun with our because we’ve got to deal with the epidemic denial first!

Racism in the United States has had a profound impact on the Black African American community since the first generation of Black Africans was brought to the shores of America. Racism has been woven into the very essence of American society - the nation's dirty laundry not to be seen by the rest of the world. It has been - and is being - used as a determining factor in the policies of the American economy, government (legal and legislative), and social arenas which egregiously affects all areas of people activity in the United States.
The U.S. government has vehemently denied that racism has been one of the pillars of its policies. The U.S. has been, through its United Nations representatives, extremely evasive when confronted by the issue of racism and its impacts on people of color and Black African American citizens. The use of platitudes, "it's in the past," "let's move on" have been the agents of obfuscation put to use by the U.S. to avoid addressing the profound impact of racism on the Black Africn American community and people of color. Without the input of the general masses of the United States, and to rely on the United Nations representatives for the United States, would leave the United Nations with the illusion that comes with the internationally-propagated "American Dream:" that for a casual observer with an outside perspective, the American house is in good order.
We in the Black African American community, people of color, and others living in the house, see it differently when it comes to racism/colorism and its effects on all areas of people activity.
Some of us from progressive organizations that have been fighting domestically in the U.S. against those who believe that men should be judged by skin color and not by the content of their character, have been asked by the December 12th Movement International Secretariat to become a voice for the Black African American community and people of color at the World Conference Against Racism in 2001.
Some leaders in the Black African Ameican community have made similar attempts to have the impact of racism on human rights addressed before an international body such as the United Nations, but to no avail. The exclusion and the non-consideration of our experience in formulating and defining the impact of racism in the international arena - thereby seeking redress for the relentless denial of and assault on human rights and self-determination for the Black African American community and people of color worldwide - are a result of us in the community not being able to organize under the stifling hand of white racist oppression. This hand of opperssion has silenced, lamed, maimed, killed and discombobulated the leaders and organizations who have attempted to seek redress in the international arena for this relentless denial of human rights and self-determination.
Racism is a pathological response to skin color. Part of the concept found behind the word "racism," has its origins in the theory proffered by Blumenbach in 1775 that there are different races of human beings which are recognized by physical characteristics, such as bone structure, texture of hair, and, the most prominent and obvious, skin color. The theory, developed by Blumenbach, has since been proven useless and given the fact that we are here today extremely problematic to say the least.
However, the theory's residue that we recognize here today as racism/colorism still impacts on the minds of all of us in this society. Essentially the theory was used as an element to construct a sort of pecking order that was institutionalized by the political, social and economic systems that we live with today. The theory was used by those with observable white skin color to begin to entrench themselves behind a protective barrier of misconceptions. Those misconceptions began to be developed into extremely pejorative labels given to the then deemed dark "inferior race."
The misconceptions were then stabilized and elements were used to justify the western world's domination of the world's majority of people of color under the guise that the natives needed to be civilized.
The pejorative labels began to be built upon and published by social, religious, economic, political and educational institutions to the point where if an individual is observed with different bone structure, hair texture and/or skin color there is an automatic prejudgement which often is inaccurate at best and pejorative at worst. The prejudgement is based on the misconceptions to which the observer has been exposed by the institutions that still rely on Blumenbach's theory and similar theories of race and the pejorative stereotypes derived therefrom.
It is these misconceptions and stereotypes and the resulting pathological response and behavior that are recognized as racism/colorism.
Blumenbach's theory, used to support this system's political, religious, social and economic divisive construct called "racism" is the root from which the stereotypes spring; it is the problem that must be addressed by establishing a means to re-educate the masses. Blumenbach's race theory and its uses by the western world as a standard to delineate and categorize individuals by their observable characteristics set the stage for unprecedented institutionalization of pejorative misconceptions of the world's people of color.
This thought pattern and conditioning by all means available - especially in education - have permeated throughout all areas of people activity. The misconceptions have been relied upon and publicized so heavily they have affected our thought patterns on a dangerous and profound level. It has come to a critical point in the U.S. and the rest of the world where, if an individual who has been exposed to the conditioning observes another with different skin color (or other characteristics), the pejorative and inaccurate prejudgement is the automatic response. The response begins with a pathological disassociation from self based on the observation or consideration of what is falsely accepted as a different "type" of human being.

PROMOTING COLOR EQUALITY

Just kidding; but wouldn't it be wonderful if the U.S.A. ever lived up to its claims of Constitutional equal rights?

Of course, part of that 'living up' would entail a forthright public acknowledgement that that very Constitution was written for people with white skins only, not for Red, Black, Yellow or Brown people.
So, if current political leaders and wannabe White House occupiers are to be considered credible in their calls for equal treatment for everyone they need to enact an Amendment to the Constitution stating that it applies to Red, Black, Yellow and Brown-skinned individuals. Without this action, people of color will continue to try to survive under the whimsical control of mal-educated whites - mal-educated as to who it is that all huemanity sprang from - Black Africans in Black Africa (all huemans, even white-skinned folk, are 'of Black African ancestry').

I would like to see the issue of the untreated racism/colorism firmly and continuously raised in the current campaigning for the presidency of the U.S.A. by all of the campaign contestants. (This of course would mean that Barack Obama would call for equity of all Blacks in this country, not just 'African Americans, that's if he doesn't wish to continue to exclude the thousands of Blacks who don't call themselves 'African Americans.' (See my Blog article titled "The Exclusivity of the Phrase African American") Moreover, he would speak in terms of 'color and culture' and not 'race and culture.')

It is way past time for this country, in its pretense of being 'the world's leader,' to come clean about its debilitating primary infectious disease - rampant untreated racism/colorism, the mis-jusdging and mal-treating of huemans who wear skins of observable melanin, in every arena of people activity - economics, education, entertainment, law, labor, politics, religion, sex and war (invasions).

It is also way past time for the U.S.A. to publicly acknowledge its regrettable history of institutional racism/colorism and to deal with that heritage which continues to pervade every facet of today's society.

How many people are aware that we actually export this racist/colorist thinking and behavior in our 'foreign' policy, to other parts of this majority-people-of-color world? (People of color comprise three-quarters of the world's population)

Blatant, institutional, negative color discrimination by the U.S.A. government is starkly evident in its Census Board's recent division of the one hueman race into 117 - one hundred seventeen'races!' The U.S.A. Immigration Department continues to play the dangerous 'Color Roulette' game with individuals wishing to enter the country, i.e. allwing white or light-skinned Cubans and similar others easily entering while darker-skinned 'others' are discouraged from entering.

The U.S.A. police departments still today, with wisespread impunity, murder Black and other 'people of color males' - as Brother Activist Fige Bornu puts it - "assemblyline murders of Black men by police."
And I have yet to see a white 5 year old child handcuffed by the racist/colorist cops. And on and on - so many horrific examples of untreated racism/colorism it's impossible to find space to list here.

It is obvious, considering all of the above, that this entire society, if its credibility as a 'progressive country' is not mired in primitive counterproductivity, must adopt methods of extirpating racist/colorist thinking and behavior, like the whoesale implementation of racismtest.org -ing along with follow-up continuous Ethnotherapy where dysfunction in responses to differences in color and culture are uncovered.

We would all benefit too from a major restructure of the language use - especially when it come to designating certain folk only as being 'of African ancestry,' - if you're hueman, you're 'of African ancestry,' whether you're Black, Red, Yellow, Brown or white.

This is absolutely necessary if the 'police state,' (busy beating, jailing and killing Blackfolk) which was predicted by the eminent Attorney William Kunstler, is not further embedded in the every day lives of U.S.A. inhabitants.

Actually, this country should follow the prescient brillaint lead of Brazil by setting up a similar entity such as its SEPIR - Special Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality - although it should be titled 'color' equality instead of 'racial' equality. This entity should have time limits, plenty of enforcement teeth
and subpoena power. Anything is just 'whistling Dixie.'

As the next presidential election nears, with a Black contester nearing front-runner position, we can expect to see more and more racist/colorist behavior rearing its ugly head. It is incumbent upon all of us to do all we can to resolve the colorism we've all inherited through no fault of our own by taking the racismtest.org, and registering for follow-up ethnotherapy where its indicated, until we can think straight.

Dr. Martin Luther King said: "Racism is a sin unto death."

New York's District Attorneys and their staffs, Sgt. Aha! In the midst of all of the obscenities going on in the Middle-East-of-Africa against the Palestinians - you thought this book review was about that hegemony! You're wrong. This brilliant, exceptionally timeless book, The Jewish Onslaught, meticulously and quite deliciously details the unfair, nasty, underhanded, feral, protracted and unrelenting campaign waged against Professor Tony Martin, B.Sc., Economics, M.A. and Ph.D. History, a Black, Trinidadian/Tobagonian, world-renowned and respected Historian at Wellesly College in Masachussetts. (Professor Martin also qualified as a Barrister-at-Law at London's presitigous Gray's Inn in 1965)

Professor Martin's erudition shines through information-laden prose as his witty use of The King's English thrusts into and parries against vulpine enemies on and off the Wellesley campus. Every mother's child should have to read this book at least four times: once, for the sheer story content, twice to learn how to most effectively utilize the english language, thrice for becoming acutely aware of the art of sustaining urban survival guerilla warfare and fourth for whetting the readers' literary appetite for as many of Professor Martin's other publications as they can feast their eyes and brains on. (So, am I looking forward to reading his newest work? - Amy Ashwood Garvey: Pan Africanist, Feminist and Mrs. Marcus Garvey No.1 or, (A Tale of Two Amies) Well yes!)

In other words, if you'd like your (children especially) relatives and friends to be fully equipped for surviving in a color-hostile society which purports to be a democracy, then make them a present of The Jewish Onslaught (to begin with) as soon as possible. It's a classic: and Oh! - the volatile, vorticose vocabulary! Word UP!

Professor Martin, a longtime, tenured-at-Wellesley-for-29+ years scholar, who, by 1993 had, incredibly, authored, compiled and edited eleven books, not only describes Black African history, but amply and skillfully melds the 'then and now' of what's going on, with critical allusions to well-known prominent players in the perilous survival struggles for Black liberation.

Wait just a moment! I apologize for ending this book review right now - I've got to go re-read Dr. Martin's thought-and-action-inspiring book. Sorry - as I was just reading through - his handwritten dedication (he signed my copy - "To My Sister"), the riveting Preface "Major Media," "Massa, We Sick?" - "Jewish Racism," "Black Solidarity," etc. etc.etc., and Documents of the Onslaught, (Letters and his 'quasi-lynching' Speech) and Broadside #1, - I had to drop everything, run to the 'phone and try to track down the other Broadsides! (I did find #'s 3 and 4! Whew!)

P.S. someone else (more talented than I) will have to finish this review: I'm too busy re-reading The Jewish Onslaught and Dr. Martin's other publications!

As the only racial group that never suffers systemic racism, whites are in denial about its impact. I always found race difficult to understand. It was never intuitive. And the reason was simple. Like every other white person, I had never experienced it myself: the meaning of colour was something I had to learn. The turning point was falling in love with my wife, an Indian-Maylasian and her coming to live in England. Then, over time, I came to see my own country in a completely different way, through her eyes, her background. Colour is something white people never have to think about because for them it is never a handicap, never a source of prejudice or discrimination but rather the opposite, a source of privilege. However liberal and enlightened I try to be, I still had a white outlook on the world. My wife was the beginning of my education.
But it was not until we went to live in Hong Kong that my view of the world and the place that race occupies within it, was to be utterly transformed. Rather than seeing race through the prism of my own society, I learned to see it globally.
When we left these shores, it felt as if we were moving closer to my wife's world: this was East Asia and she was Malaysian. And she, unlike me, had the benefit of speaking Cantonese. So my expectation was that she would feel more comfortable in this environment than I would. I was wrong.
As a white, I found myself treated with respect and deference; my wife notwithstanding her knowledge of the language and her intimacy with Chinese culture was the object of an in-your-face racism. In our 14 months in Hong Kong, I learned some brutal lessons about racism. First, it is not the preserve of whites. Every race displays racial prejucice, is capable of racism, carries assumptions about its own virtue and superiority. Racism, therefore, is subtly different, reflecting the specificity of its own culture and history. Second, there is a global racial hierarchy that helps to shape the power and prejudices of each race. At the top of this hierarchy are whites. The reasons are deep-rooted and profound. White societies have been the global top dogs for half a millenium, ever since the Chines civilization went into decline. With global hegemony, first with Europe and then the U.S., whites have long commanded respect, as well as arousing fear and resenment, among other races. Being white confers a privilege, a special kind of deference, throughout the world, be it Kingston, Hong Kong, Delhi, Lagos - or even despite the way it is portrayed in Britain, Harare.
Whites are the only race that never suffers any kind of systemic racism anywhere in the world. And the impact of white racism has been far more profound and baneful than any other: it remains the only racism with global reach.
Being top of the pile means that whites are peculiarly and uniquely insensitive to race and racism and the power relations this involves. We are invariably the beneficiaries, never the victims. Even when well meaning, we remain strangely ignorant. The clout enjoyed by whites does not reside simply in an abstraction - western societies - but in the skin of each and every one of us. Whether we like it or not, in every corner of the planet we enjoy an extraordinary personal power bestowed by our colour. It is something we are largely oblivious of and consequently take for granted, irrespective of whether we are liberal or reactionary, back-packers, tourists or expatriate businessmen.
The existence of a de facto global racial hierarchy helps to shape the nature of racial prejudice exhibited by other races. Whites are universally respected, even when that respect is combined with strong resentment. A race generally defers to those above it in the hierarchy and is contemptuous of those below it.
The Chinese - like the Japanese - widely consider themselves to be number two in the pecking order and look down upon all other races as inferior. Their respect for whites is also grudging - many Chinese believe that western hegemony is, in effect, held on no more than prolonged leasehold. Those below the Chinese and the Japanese in the hierarchy are invariably people of colour (both Chinese and Japanese often like to see themselves as white or nearly white).
At the bottom of the pile, virtually everywhere it would seem, are those of African descent, the only exception in certain cases being the indigenous peoples.
The highlights are centrality of colour to the global hierarchy. Other factors serve to define and reinforce a race's position in the hierarchy - levels of development, civilisational values, history, religion, physical characteristics and dress - but the most insistent and widespread is colour. The reason is that colour is instantly recognizable, it defines difference at the glance of an eye. It also happens to have anoher effect. It makes the gobal hierarchy seem like the natural order of things: you are born with your colour, it is something nobody can do anything about, it is neither cultural nor social but physical in origin.
In the era of globalization, with the mass migration and globalized cultural industries, colour has become the universal calling card of difference. In interwar Europe, the dominant forms of racism were anti-Semitism and racialised nationalism, today it is color: at a football match, it is blacks not Jews that get jeered even in Eastern Europe.
Liberals like to think that racism is a product of ignorance, a lack of contact and that as human mobility increases, so racism will decline. This might be described as the Bennetton view of the world. And it does contain a modicum of truth. Intermixing can foster greater understanding but not necessarily as Burnley, Sri Lanka and Israel, in their very different ways, all testify.
Hong Kong, compared with China, is an open society and has long been so, yet it has had little or no effect in mollifying Chinese prejudice towards people of darker skin. It is not that racism is immovable and intractable but that its roots are deep, its prejudices as old as humanity itself.
The origins of Chinese racism lie in the Middle Kingdom.: the belief that the Chinese are superior to other races - with the exception of whites - is centuries, if not thousands of years old.
The disparaging attitude among American whites towards blacks has its roots in slavery. Wishing it wasn't true, denying it's true, will never change the reality. We can only understnd - and tackle racism - if we are honest about it. And when it comes to race - more than any other issue - honesty is in desperately short supply. Race remains the great taboo. Take the case of Hong Kong. A conspiracy of silence surrounded race. As the British departed in 1997, amid much self-congratulation, they breathed not a word about racism. Yet the latter was integral to colonial rule, its leitmotif: colonialism, after all, is institutionalized racism at its crudest and most base.
The majority of Chinese, the object of it, meanwhile, harbored an equally racist mentality towards people of darker skin. Masters of their own home, they too are in denial of their own racism. But that, in varying degrees, is true of racism not only in Hong Kong but also in every country in the world.
You may remember that, after the riots in Burnley in the summer of 2001, Tony Blair declared that they were not a true reflection of the state of race relations in Britain: of course, they were, even if the picture is less discouraging in other aspects.
Racism everywhere remains largely invisible and hugely under-estimated, the issue that barely speaks its name. How can the Economist produce a 15,000-word survey on migration, as it did last year, and hardly mention the word racism? Why does virtually no one talk about the racism suffered by the Williams sisters on the tennis circuit even though the evidence is legion? Why are the deeply racist western attitudes towards Arabs barely mentioned in the context of the occupation of Iraq, carefully hidden behind talk of religion and civilizational values?
The dominant race in a society, whether white or otherwise, rarely admits to its own racism. Denial is near universal. The reasons are manifold. It has a huge vested interest in its own privilege. It will often be oblivious to its own prejudices. It will regard its racist attitudes as nothing more than common sense, having the force and justification of nature. Only when challenged by those on the receiving end is racism ousted and attitudes begin to change.
The reason why British sociey is less nakedly racist than it used to be is that whites have been forced by people of color to question age-old racist assumptions. Nations are never honest about themselves: they are all in varying degrees of denial.
This is clearly fundamental to understanding the way in which racism in underplayed as a national and global issue. But there is another reason, which is a specifically white problem. Because whites remain the overwhelmingly dominant race, perched in splendid isolation on top of the pile even though they only represent 17% of the world's population, they are overwhelmingly responsible for setting the global agenda, for determining what is discussed and what is not. And the fact that whites have no experience of racism except as perpetrators means that racism is constantly underplayed by western institutions - by governments, by the media, by corporations. Moreover, because whites have reigned globally supreme for half a millenium, they, more than any other race, have left their mark on the rest of humanity: they have a vested interest in denying the extent and baneful effects of racism.
It was only two years ago, you may remember, that the first-ever United Nations conference on racism was held - against the fierce resistance of the U.S. (and that in the Clinton era). Nothing more eloquently testifies to the unwillingness of western governments to engage in a global dialogue abou the problem of racism.
If racism isnow more widely recognized than it used to be, the situation is likely to be transformed over the next few decades. As migration increase, as the regime of denial is challenged, as subordinate races find the will and confidence to challenge the dominant race. As understanding of racism develops, as we become more aware of other racisms like that of the Han Chinese, then the global prominence of racism is surely set to increase dramatically.
It is rare to hear a political leader speaking the discourse of colour. Robert Mugabe is one but he is tainted and discredited. The Malaysian Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamed, is articulate on the subject of white privilege and the global hierarchy. The most striking example by a huge margin, though, is Nelson Mandela. When it comes to colour, his sacrifice is beyond compare and his authority unimpeachable. And his message is always universal - not confined to the interests of one race. It is he who has suggested that western support for Israel has somethin to do with race. It is he who has hinted that it is no accident that the authority of the UN is under threat at a time when its secretary general is black. And yet his voice is almost alone in a world where race oozes from every pore of humanity.
In a world where racism is becoming increasingly important, we will need more such leaders. And invariably they will be people of colour: on this subject whites lack moral authority. I could only understand the racism suffered by my wife through her words and experience. I never felt it myself. The difference is utterly fundamental
